Comments that these allegations were dealt with 17 years ago and that there’s nothing new t add are just plain wrong. The matter are being resurrected in parliament mainly courtesy of Labor MP and ex-Attorney General Robert McLelland in relation to union fraud. Whether Gillard was knowingly involved or not, it still appears that a prima-face case of fraud, blackmail and embezzlement happened with the involvement of Wilson and Bewitt. If this case is re-opened and Gillard is implicated, so be it-call it collateral damage- but it shouldn’t stop a full investigation.
But the big question remains- what role does Bill Ludwig play in all this- he seems to be lurking in the background in the possible cover-up of a number of alleged scams involving union officials? The Heiner afffair which involved AWU backed Goss and the Prison Officer’s Union, the Wilson-Blewitt afffair and the Craig Thompson affair- is Ludwig not only the king-maker of the ALP but also the gatekeeper?
We’d all do well to remember that Nixon was impeached not for the original crime, but the coverup- the perversion of justice.
Hi Shane. Just noted an error in your Gillard appointed Murphy Judge post. You wrote “until 1995 when she left in a hurry and became Chief of staff to Victorian Opposition Leader John Brumby from 1995 to 1998. ”
That’s what her parliamentary bio says but she actually became Chief of Staff to Brumby on 3rd of May 1996. In view of the conflict between the account of Slater & Gordon’s Anfrew Grech (who apparently wasn’t there at that time) of the firm’s internal probe into Gillard, and that of former partner Nick Styant-Browne who was there and took part in it, those dates could be very significant and be a further blow to Gillard’s integrityor lack thereof !

Hearing the likes of Ms Gillard lecture our footballers on coming clean is good for a belly laugh isn’t it ?
The ALP must be thrilled that for a change those in the media spotlight for possible wrong doing aren’t prominent members of the ALP – hence their enthusiasm for for the media being all excited by this story which from the lack of evidence presented so far might be the biggest beat up since Y2K.
