Sydney radio station 2GB’s Alan Jones sent love letters to schoolboys, had boys in his room late at night and perved on them in the shower when he was a teacher at The King’s School in Sydney in the early 1970’s. This behaviour led to Alan Jones’ forced resignation in 1973.
That type of conduct would be considered grooming today and the police would be called for sure. And if it was anyone but Alan Jones the matter of the forced resignation by The King’s School would have been given a start at the current Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.

“By 1973 Alan’s impassioned support of some and lack of empathy for others became too great an issue to be ignored. There was deepening anxiety about continued late-night excursions to Jones’s room. Chris Simkin was often in the room with Alan until late at night. “I was in there for hours. The door was never locked.” Simkin says they used to watch The Ernie Sigley Show on television.”
“Scott Walker, another constant visitor, began to feel violated. “If you had muscle strain he would insist on strapping your legs. He would take you into the shower and tell you to take your clothes off. I was shattered with awkwardness. It was weird and uncomfortable and seemed voyeuristic.”
“Housemate Brian Porter says: “I never saw a breach of fiduciary duty. I never saw evidence of predatory behaviour. But he was manipulative and voyeuristic. He would love watching athletes on television and film. He saw the beauty of the human form in full flight. He loved the strength, the freshness and the vitality of boys.”
“Disquiet about Jones’s attachment to some boys grew during a term break when one of the masters found a letter, written by Jones to a boy, that had been left behind in a classroom desk. In it Alan spoke of thinking about the boy late at night, expressing his love. While love letters to boys were hardly appropriate, neither were they regarded as smoking gun evidence of misbehaviour.” (Click here o read more)
If a teacher had children is his room late at night on a regular basis nowadays the school would have no choice but to ring the police. The police would also need to be called if a teacher was sending love letters to schoolboys and making boys take their clothes off to shower so the teacher could have a perve.
Alan Jones has never answered the allegations made against him while he was a teacher at The King’s School. A Sydney school teacher was charged with child grooming this week. So why not Alan Jones? Or at least the Royal Commission should investigate given it involves a school cover-up.

And if recent reports are correct then anyone supporting Cunneen is looking rather stupid to say the least because the NSW DPP has had to transfer a matter to the Crown Solicitor’s office. This is because of Margaret Cunneen’s relationship with Steve Fletcher who is facing criminal charges.

Alan Jones interviewed The Australian newspaper’s Legal Affairs editor Chris Merritt a couple of days after the High Court handed down its judgment in the Margaret Cunneen / ICAC matter.
They went hard attacking ICAC and defending Margaret Cunneen. It was a pathetic performance by both of them, shows what grubs they are and highlights what contempt they have for their own audience.
One of the key witnesses Jones and Merritt use in their attack on ICAC is former corrupt ALP politician Graham Richardson. Mr Richardson is currently under investigation by ICAC which surprises no one given Richardson’s history. Alan Jones and Chris Merritt did not even mention once in their 17 minute interview that their mate and fellow employee Graham Richardson was under investigation by ICAC. Jones and Merritt should both be sacked by their employers.

In 2009 Alan Jones launched the book “The Dark Side” for career criminal and former police officer Roger Rogerson. When this was raised again last year when Rogerson was charged with murder and drug dealing Alan Jones tried to distance himself from Rogerson. Jones said he did not know Rogerson and was only at the book signing at the request of the book publisher.
And who else was at Rogerson’s book signing? None other than Alan Jones’ other good friend Margaret Cunneen. What a small world.
There’s two problems there for Jones. Firstly, according to journalist Peter Fitzsimons, Jones did an interview with Rogerson ten or so years ago. So Jones can hardly say that he didn’t know Rogerson in 2009. And secondly, about six months later in 2010, Jones was at a book launch for Glen McNamara.

Both Glen McNamara and Roger Rogerson are in jail awaiting trial for murder and drug dealing regarding the same matter. Alan Jones claims that he does not know Rogerson is a lot harder to believe when you know the facts.
Graham Richardson
One of the things that hit me when listing to the Alan Jones interview/rant above was when Chris Merritt said to Alan Jones: “Your friend Graham Richardson” or words to that effect. I thought surely Jones wouldn’t be friends with someone as dodgy as Graham Richardson. A quick search revealed not only are they friends but they have a talk show together on Sky News called Richo & Jones.
Cash for Comment
It is well-known that you can buy Alan Jones opinion, it’s just a matter of how much. That was revealed in the cash for comment scandal is 1999 which was “paid advertising in radio that is presented to the audience in such a way as to sound like editorial commentary”.
“John Laws and Alan Jones had been paid to give favourable comment to companies including Qantas, Optus, Foxtel, Mirvac and major Australian banks, without disclosing this arrangement to listeners.” (Click here to read more) Both Richo & Jones had their snouts in the trough for the Cash for Comment scandal as it turned out. So they go way back when it comes to corruption.
Summary
The cash for comment matter is important because it shows how Alan Jones works without ethics, integrity or respect for his listeners. It also suggests strongly that Alan Jones’ reporting of Margaret Cunneen and Roger Rogerson have been done with some benefit for Alan Jones.
The relationship with Roger Rogerson would have been handy if someone wanted a police investigation stopped. And the relationship with NSW Crown Prosecutor Margaret Cunneen could help if you wanted to make sure someone was not charged with a crime.
Alan Jones has history of having criminal charges dropped when he was in England in the 1980’s and was charged with ‘outraging public decency’ and ‘committing an indecent act’.
There is nothing to explain Alan Jones’ relationships with people with dodgy reputations unless he wants something dodgy in return.
I followed the Rolf Harris matter very closely and to me the Australian media give Alan Jones the Rolf Harris treatment. The mainstream media won’t go anywhere near Alan Jones’ time at The King’s School the same way they would not name Rolf Harris. If it wasn’t for Chris Masters there is a whole side of Alan Jones we would never know.
The question I’m left wondering is: Is Alan Jones another Rolf Harris?

I was a heroin addict from the Eastern Suburbs from 1982 to 1985 and it was common knowledge that Allan Jones was a regular visitor to ” The Wall ” this was a area frequented only by boys as young as thirteen to early twenties the vast majority Heroin Addicts. Always a black sedan usually with a driver, always in the back always behind dark tinted windows he would make his selection. The boys would say Alan is slumming it tonight. He could disappear for months but eventually always returned. As I said it was common knowledge and not a big deal at the time. I do remember the British public toilet scandal clearly the British press gave him hell over it. I have never once listened to Alan on radio have seen him on television and papers. He is a grubby little man made of Straw.
I was shocked to learn recently that Jack Perry of Zig and Zag fame pleaded guilty to seven counts of unlawful indecent assault against his granddaughter in 1994 and convicted, however no sentence was given.

What a miserable little life you must lead. Looking for the dirt on people. Alan Jones is not perfect, as are most of us. But he does many good deeds. Yes, he has an ego, Yes, he can be “over the top” on many views and may not always be right. but, again, he listens to the “struggle street” people, like myself, and incredibly can get results.
You might want to read the “cash for comments” section again. Alan Jones listens to whoever pays the most. And supporting criminals is hardly a good deed, especially for their victims which Alan Jones obviously doesn’t care about.

They always do good things for people to cover up their true selves, Rolf Harris, Jimmy Savile, Robert Hughes to name a few. The more perceived good works advertised, the less people tend to look behind that mask they put on. If it were not for people like you Shane, we would continue to empower the likes of Rolf, Jimmy and all the others to do whatever they want. I was sexual abused by my grandfather from the age of about 7 to 11.
To everyone he came accross as the good “Samaritan”. He was very charismatic & everyone loved him.
He lived in Wollongong & funnily was very good friends with Frank Arkell (birds of a feather!). He also travelled the south coast putting on magic shows, doing hypnosis, he owned a lollie truck & played Santa at christmas…..he had all his options covered for grooming & molesting children! It wasn’t until my early 20’s that I found out how many of us grandchildren (& I’m sure plenty of others) that he had got his grubby hands on. Unfortunately/fortunately he died of a heart attack at 60. I would have loved to have seen his day in court surrounded by all his grandchildren.
How can you stick up for someone that does this type of thing. Where’s your morals? Great he helps people but to have done what he has done he deserves to be punished.

As one of millions of Catholics we want “PELL” back here in Australia to be made answerable and then disowned by the Church and sacked by the Vatican.
Many good Australian Catholics have waited a very long time for REAL justice to prevail over the Church’s disgusting history of turning a blind eye to “suffer the little children”.
It wasn’t until the Catholic Church’s ordinary church members (the world over) and in the hundreds of thousands stopped attending mass and stopped being pillars of the church and cut off their weekly money contributions, did the Church stop and think WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?
For most Catholics (the world over) this action was a very difficult decision and heart breaking for most to accept the HIDDEN truth of the Church’s grave sin of silence and continued denial and in general nil actions to rectify.
If it were not for modern day air-travel in Australia where many thousands of ordinary Australian Catholics finally could afford to travel over-seas for the first time to hear for themselves the REAL horror stories of their fellow brothers and sisters deep sufferings in other countries Catholic communities.
It has taken many years but Aussie Catholics slowly realised the full horror and extent of some of the Catholic Priest’s evil child abuse in their own Catholic communities, as being the same that had or was happening in over seas countries going back for well over a hundred years.
It has been a mind boggling time of lots of prayer and action and still is to make the Catholic Church own the truth and help it’s many victims with deep compassion, much healing and parish community love and acceptance.
I know a lot of ordinary Catholics who will never say they are a Catholic by religion out of fear of being targeted for abuse by some members of the general public.
It is a time of great shame for some Catholics world wide but we need to voice our pride as every day-modern day RESPONSIBLE, THINKING and AWARE Catholics who do deeply care and are Christ centred in love, prayer and action.

Jones has had a dodgy history over a mile long, and I think the royal commission must look at what happened at the King’s school in the 1960s & 1970s. If they do, then Alan Jones will be one of the main people investigated by the royal commission. I’m sure that the King’s school has a file/evidence that would destroy Jones. Let’s face it, Alan Jones was sacked by the King’s school for serious misconduct. Must I also say that I think that Jones has not taught at a another school since leaving the King’s school in 1973-1974. Why is that?. Is it was because he was a major danger to young boys?.
Jones has no criminal convictions recorded against him. Being homosexual is not a crime. Sex between consenting males is not a crime unless there is payment involved. If Jones has victims out there from his time at Kings and Brisbane Grammar let them report his grooming and sexual misconduct to the Royal Commission. Jones has his enemies and they will be salivating waiting for his alleged abuses to be reported to the Royal Commission but to date nothing seems to have been lodged as there have been no leaks. The victims are the ones who must report the alleged offences for the Commission to launch an investigation. Information on his misconduct reported to the Commission by people who have read Masters’ book or this blog is worthless. I will neither condemn nor defend him until I hear that an investigation has been launched. Justice Peter McClennan the Commissioner of this Victims of Child Abuse Royal Commission was a Gillard appointment. He will have his hounds on Jones if there is a whiff of wrongdoing substantiated by evidence and it will be leaked to the press straight away as Jones is the Left’s worst nightmare. In the meantime, I will listen to his radio show from time to time and form my own opinions on what he is trying to push down my throat in a political sense.

And then when the victims reported it, action was taken against Rolf. It is up to the victims to come forward, and going to the Royal Commission is not as daunting as going to the police. We can all have our suspicions but that does not get the person convicted.
Yes, until SOME of his victims grew up and over came their suicidal thoughts.

Never doubt that there have been many victims through the years. Check the comments from the top down. The difficulty for investigators is always the credibility of the victim. Most child abuse cases come down to the victim’s word against the offender’s. If you’re a homeless boy selling your body on The Wall at Kings Cross, what do you suppose your chances are in a court of law where it’s likely that at least some of the jurors will be Jones fans, and others will form a low opinion of you based on the fact that by the time you get to court you are probably homeless, drug addicted and suffering from some significant mental health issues. This has been the problem for investigators with Jones.
The other category of Jones’ victims are those boys at private schools that received special treatment who don’t want to come forward, either because they believe they ‘love’ him or because they would be embarrassed to admit juvenile homosexual behaviour now that they are heterosexual adults.
The DPP also act as a filter on police charges. Given the mention of Margaret Cuneen it would be interesting to know if there have ever been investigations submitted to the DPP regarding Jones that were rejected by Cuneen. In these circumstances police cannot progress to laying charges.
Its not about victims and survivors having to report it. Its about people not abusing children in the first place, then it wouldn’t have to be reported. There is no excuse for abuse.
London incident
On 6 December 1988, Jones was arrested in an underground public toilet on Broadwick Street in the Soho area of London. He was taken to the Mayfair police station and charged with ‘outraging public decency’ and ‘committing an indecent act’. Jones’ friends rushed to his support, and when the case was heard in the Marlborough Street Magistrates’ Court the next day The Crown withdrew the more serious charge, with Jones pleading not guilty to the lesser charge of committing an indecent act. The authorities ultimately did not present any evidence to support either charge, and the second charge was also later dropped, with Jones’ lawyers winning ₤70 in costs. Jones read a prepared statement when he first appeared back on his radio show on 16 January 1989, saying “I am and always was innocent of the charges levelled against me”. Jones has avoided talking about the incident ever since, although it is frequently raised by his opponents or those looking to highlight alleged hypocrisy in his comments
It was a fascinating day. The headline on the morning edition of the Telegraph reported the arrest. All later editions that day had a different front page.
The police investigation relied upon the evidence of the boy that was approached in a public toilet by Jones who allegedly had his penis out at the time. The victim became ‘uncooperative’ and it was suggested at the time he had also suddenly come into a significant amount of money. The two events seemed to be related.
What was most distressing for the investigating police in this matter is that they were accused of targeting homosexual men by targeting locations known to be used for ‘cottaging’ (the UK term for men meeting each other to have sex in places like public toilets). There was outrage from some sections of the gay community over the police activity. This may also have contributed to the withdrawal of charges. There were other sections of the gay community that supported police action against paedophile activity and who were keen to point out that there was a world of difference between consenting adults and exploited children.
Perhaps it’s time we considered the elephant in the room: why do we have children prostituting themselves in the first place? Why don’t we have enough of our tax dollars given to social services to provide people with safe homes?
He did the same thing at Brisbane Grammar School in the 60s. When he wasn’t grooming his favourites who knows what, he was sadistic and cruel.
There is a generation of boys who are scarred by the experience – my father is one of them.
I urge the Royal Commission to investigate this man. A little digging is all it should take.

Biggest mistake in my life was not keeping them instead the guy I worked with gave them back when he came looking for the cupboard after it’s removal. Love letters to and from boys and that fucker would have lost his job years ago.
He is def. gay, I heard 18 years ago he was having a secret affair with an olympian swimmer and No it’s not Thorpy. The love triangle caused intense difficulties and later divorce for the persons involved. I taught with a man at another GPS school who was previously a Housemaster at TKS when Jones was a Boarding Master in his House. This man was not someone who engaged in idle chatter. The below link is another interesting story regarding Alan Jones. I remember around 1987, 1988 Alan Jones was interviewed on TV regarding Brian Smith. At the time Jones, in my opinion, “went over the top’ in his praise for Smith. He mentioned Smith was a “super athlete” and “he is the next step in the evolution…..”. At the time I remember feeling very uncomfortable with Jones’s enthusiasm and passion for Smith. This experience was always in the back of my mind and now I know why.

I have only just come across this website and would like to offer a correction to some information on the page (and clarification to Chris Masters’ article.)
Alan Jones taught at The Kings School from 1970 to 1975, not 1973.
Jones was definitely still teaching through 1974 and the first term (of 3 terms) in 1975. It was at the end of first term in ’75 when Jones ‘left’ TKS. The initial news came out during the May school holidays — and the rumour was that he had been ‘sacked’ – no official reason was given.
