Anthony Albanese puts spotlight on Labor Party corruption, sex workers and tax fraud

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s offer of a state funeral for Graham Richardson has already had the effect of making Labor Party corruption, sex workers and tax fraud front page news.

And if the state funeral for former federal politician Graham Richardson, who passed away on Saturday (8/11/25) goes ahead it will do untold damage to the credibility of Anthony Albanese and the Labor Party.

For people who don’t know, and there is no one in politics who doesn’t know, Graham Richardson was a major league crook who liked to mix sex workers with politics and business.

I wrote about Albanese’s relationship with Richardson being a problem last year in an article titled “Anthony Albanese, Thai massages and his mates Graham Richardson, Alan Jones and Lachlan Murdoch”. (Click here to read the article)

Anthony Albanese should have either said nothing about Richardson’s passing, or just said a few words and left it at that.

By offering to use taxpayers’ funds to pay for state funeral for Richardson, Albanese has made it a political issue that could and should be discussed and debated like all government spending of taxpayers’ money.

While new media was always going to shine on light on Graham Richardson’s corruption it is interesting that some old media have also jumped on board which has helped amplify Albanese’s self-inflicted problem.

The SMH ran a detailed story about Richardson (11/11/25) which said,

“It’s hard to know where to start when talking about Graham Frederick Richardson: bagman, political fixer and bon vivant. There were the bribes paid to him by way of prostitutes, Offset Alpine, Swiss bank accounts, taking a cut of the political donations he collected, accepting a hefty payment from Eddie Obeid in return for getting Obeid into parliament, having a major property developer build the extension on his home, being on the payroll of developers, and so much more.” (Click here to read more)

Crikey published an article (12/11/25) which starts off: “Instead of giving the grub Graham Richardson a state funeral, the government should be exploring ways to ensure we never see his like again in politics.” (Click here to read more)

Other media reports are just as critical of the state funeral offer. And that creates a massive problem for Anthony Albanese, because if the state funeral does go ahead social media will go into meltdown with the attacks on Albanese and the Labor Party pouring taxpayers’ money down the drain for their mate Richardson.

Some are saying it is an error of judgment by Anthony Albanese to offer a state funeral for Graham Richardson. It’s not an error of judgement.

As I wrote in my last article, Anthony Albanese is so arrogant now he just doesn’t care, because he thinks he is above accountability, the same as Scott Morrison didn’t care and thought he could just lie his way out of any situation.

Below is the letter Prime Minister Anthony Albanese posted on his “X” account on Saturday.

Anthony Albanese - Graham Richardson

The NSW Premier also posted a few paragraphs acknowledging Graham Richardson and his time as a politician, but he didn’t offer a state funeral. (Click here to read more)

Why the Prime Minister offered a state funeral and not the NSW Premier I don’t know.

When Albanese defends Graham Richardson in the letter above, he is defending the widespread political corruption that Richardson was involved in.

Former radio announcer John Laws passed away on the 9th of November and the NSW government confirmed on the 12th of November that he will be having a state funeral.

Graham Richardson passed away a day earlier on the 8th of November yet still no word on whether a state funeral has been confirmed for him and maybe that is because his family have still not decided whether to accept the offer of a state funeral.

If the state funeral for Graham Richardson does go ahead, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese might want to consider calling in sick or quickly planning an overseas trip to avoid the political damage of attending.

Once again Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has shown who he really is. His loyalty is to a corrupted political system and machine, not the Australian people.

  1. Albanese has become that arrogant with his Lies and behaviour, that he is starting to act like nothing can touch him. He has hit the mark where he feels immune to any sort of fall out from bad publicity. He has brushed of so much and got away with it, that he now feels like he can just brush off what ever comes up next. It will be the Rabbit in the Head-lights act, the same as when Paul Keating went down. Totally unbelievable that he had lost.

  2. The corruption runs so deep in Australian politcs, particularly Labor & its union apparatchiks, that any real investigation will only uncover “colourful characters” & minor peccadillos. NACC slumbers on!!

    • Oh please. The LNP have plenty of convictions on their side ( I am not an ALP supporter nor a fan of the corrupt Richardson! So please don’t be so sectarian in you comments.

  3. Albanese is a disappointment on many levels. This latest decision, the state funeral for Richardson, merely reinforces my negative views of the man. It appears that Albanese is enjoying his PM role so much that he reckons he can do whatever he wants. To be looking on, I find his behaviour offensive.

  4. So now we’re meant to celebrate Graham Richardson – the man who mastered political arithmetic but never quite counted the public in. He turned politics into a trade fair for influence, where the deals were private and the costs public. If this is the model of “service” we honour with a state funeral, then the only thing being buried is integrity. I never ever did like the man.

  5. It’s just the nature of the beast. The beast being today’s political system and climate. It’s no longer a government for the people, pure and simple. The need to squirrel away dark money into Swiss and Cayman Islands accounts says it all. Nothing to see here, move right along, peasants.

  6. Not too happy about Graham Richardson’s or John Laws’ either! Wish they’d get on with governing and takingsome of the tough decisions about negative gearing and capital gains tax etc. Get on with stopping the house price spiral for goodness sake!

  7. And now Mr Magoo (Albo) has committed to a statue of Gough Whitlam to be paid for by (as usual) the stupid taxpayers. Whitlam was sacked by the Gov-General over the Khemlani “loan affair”. If the voting public disagreed with that decision, that had the opportunity to vote him back in , but they voted for Malcolm Fraser. And if he can commission a statue for Whitlam, what about all the past PM’s ??
Is there no stopping Mr Magoo (Albo) from wasting taxpayers money for his own personal decisions ???

  8. These two cretins are unfortunately representitive of the majority of those in public life be they paid public servants the political class or their bosses the corrupt corporate family.

  9. I don’t agree with most of what your wrote. The corruption within the Sheer incompetent Coalition has been mountainous, together with their dodgy deals, kick backs, scandals and rorts. And let’s not forget the Robodebt scandal.
A thousand Time this Shane: Labor under Albanese is the most scandal-free federal government – of any stripe – in living memory. Just think about that. So why, in tough economic times, is stable and orderly government not enough? It’s something we hadn’t seen for almost 10 years before Labor got into government. The Albanese government has had no scandals, no rorting, no misusing taxpayer’s money, no bonking of staff, no sackings and no back stabbings. Just well-behaved and competent ministers doing their jobs well.
Even today the Sheer Incompetent Coalition is still a party of Chaos and Instability.

  10. Why do Albo, Susssssan, etc., etc., always arrange a pressie with three or four ‘Noddies’ as a background? Safety in numbers? Just following the script?

  11. corruption runs deep in labor. Did someone say cfmeu? waiting for a royal commission to wipe out labor’s dodgy deals. Was a labor supporter for 30 years, then realized they are no longer for the working man. The dream died with the tree in Barcaldine.
