Prime Minister Anthony Albanese used parliamentary privilege to defame former senator Rex Patrick, when there was no justification to do so. So, let’s see why.
Below are 4 short videos from federal parliament this week that show how scandalous parliament is and how dodgy the proposed new FOI laws are. Spend a few minutes, watch the 4 videos and you will get a true understanding of where Australian politics is really at.
The question that PM Anthony Albanese was answering was about Labor’s proposed new Freedom of Information (FOI) laws and Albanese used his answer to call Rex Patrick a “failed former Senator”.
Albanese’s attack on Rex Patrick was clearly premediated as Mr Patrick runs an FOI advisory service, Transparency Warrior, that helps people with FOI applications which holds Albanese and his government to account.
All reports, I have seen so far, say Labor’s new FOI laws are designed make it harder to obtain government documents under FOI laws which has the effect of reducing government accountability. And we all know, by the fake NACC they set up, that Albanese and Labor like reduced accountability.
The below video is Prime Minister Anthony Albanese being asked a question by Independent MP Allegra Spender about the proposed new FOI laws where he defames Rex Patrick for no reason. (9-10-25)
Rex Patrick did respond on “X” and said:
Yesterday, in reply to a question about #FOI, @AlboMP went out of his way to take a swipe at me. His words were unbecoming of a PM, but I’m glad my #transparency efforts are getting under his skin. It shows our anti-secrecy campaign is having an impact. (Click here to see on “X”)
Not long after Albanese’s answer there was another question in parliament about the new FOI laws as per below.
The below video is the Attorney-General Michelle Rowland being asked a question by Independent Dr Helen Haines about the new FOI laws. (9-10-25)
What Attorney-General Michelle Rowland fails to say about Robodebt is that her government has helped the Robodebt 6 get away free, at least at this point, and many other criminals get away free with Labor’s fake NACC.
Below Greens Senator David Shoebridge talks about how the Labor Party’s lie about bots and foreign countries driving up FOI costs was exposed at a parliament estimates hearing. (9-10-25)
The contempt the Labor government has for being accountable is easily proven by the video below where Porsche driving Home Affairs Secretary Stephanie Foster takes Questions on Notice about Questions on Notice during questions at the Senate Legal and Constitutional Affairs Legislation Committee. (8-10-25)
Ms Foster is supported by Labor Party Senator Murray Watt who is the Minister for the Environment and Water.
Given Stephanie Foster’s performance in the above video, supported by Labor Party Senator Murray Watt, does anyone believe PM Anthony Albanese and the Labor Party want new and better FOI laws to help others to hold them and the government to account?
The answer is of course not, PM Anthony Albanese and the Labor Party are lying in parliament, as per the above videos, trying to weaken FOI laws to help them hide from the public what they are doing, which raises the next question:
What is PM Anthony Albanese and the Labor Party doing that they want to hide from the public? Whatever it is, it isn’t good, and it certainly isn’t for the benefit of voters otherwise they would want voters to know about it.

Sadly, the state of our politics, both state and federal is a reflection of the electorates apathy. Politicians do what they do because WE allow it.
Spot on.
It’s at least encouraging to see the Greens,Teals & Independants trying to get answers from lying, deflecting, obfuscating Labour & bureacrats. Kudos to the indefatigable Rex Patrick.
I’m seriously wondering whether AUKUS or lack of it, isn’t behind the changes to FOI. Australia has already paid nearly 2 billion dollars towards this dodgy deal. What was it for? Any receipt of payment to be viewed?
Albanese seems to have found a very lucrative gravy train IMO. It’s all conjecture, but I’d love to see FOI on it!!!
My late mate’s father, Nikolai, used to say, “You must always keep an eye on the political class.” He spoke from experience – growing up behind the Iron Curtain, he saw what happens when power goes unchecked. Neighbours vanished for asking questions. Families were punished for small acts of defiance. Freedom was fragile, and only those who stayed alert could survive with dignity intact.
Fast forward to today’s United States: agencies like ICE wield immense power over vulnerable and innocent people, often with little accountability. Families are torn apart, children detained, and voices of protest ignored or criminalised. Nikolai would remind us: it’s not fear-mongering – it’s vigilance.
Freedoms and rights can vanish quickly when oversight is weak.
And now, quietly, some aspects of this are sliding insidiously into Australia’s political class. We see politicians and bureaucrats using secrecy, legal technicalities, and selective enforcement to evade scrutiny. The erosion is slower, subtler — but the lesson is the same.
Without constant public vigilance, even democracies can begin to mirror the very abuses Nikolai witnessed in his youth.
The message is timeless: stay alert, question authority, and never assume that freedom is permanent. Don’t ever assume it will never happen here!
Australia is at a gallop & overtaking the US in nefarious activities headed up by the lack-lustre, spineless & lily-livered Albo. He has his instructions handed down and his arrogant & rude attitude will be his undoing. Pride comes before a fall… and fall he will. His severe punishment awaits.. looking to see him squirm & squeal.!!
Who is this person who is obviously delaying the process of supplying information by endlessly “taking it on notice” .. one of the most adept at time-wasting in the Albanese government.!! Disgusting.. she is a waste of taxpayers’ money & and oxygen thief..!!
I believe she is the Porsche 911 driving Secretary,Stephanie Porter. This is just typical of her bs dissembling.
The Major parties have proved they don’t care about Australians. Vote Independent
As JFK once said…”The price of liberty is eternal vigilance”. I wonder what he’d think of Trump and the US today.
I don’t think it’s Trump that requires “eternal vigilance”… rather turn that intensified vigilance on none other than PM Albanese & his criminal cohorts. Rapid disasterous eliminators happenings going on surreptitiously.!!!
Is it really necessary to bring Trump Derangement Syndrome into the discussion? Our own issues are too serious to warrant the distractions of US politics.
Frightening is it not?
My family and I have been swinging but left leaning voters since the mid 1800s.
I do know that from what I have seen in WA and Canberra, I will never vote Labor again and will do my best to suggest others do the same.
Voted Liberal when I was young ………. never again.
Changed to Labor – big mistake …………………. never again.
Only Independant from now on.
As others have mentioned politicians can not be trusted and they certainly do not look after 95%+ of Australians. Bought and owned by big business, the Israel lobby and the US
Cabinet Exemption, Cabinet Immunity, Cabinet privalege is protocol dating back to kings and queens it is not Law Albo.
If Albo is so concerned about the cost of replying to FOI requests, then the obvious answer is for the government to everything transparently, to be honest and above board, so that there is no need for them. If that were the case, imagine how many fewer public servants we would need, and imagine the cost savings. Unfortunately, that is all imaginary.
