Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and the Labor Party have done a dirty deal with Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp to attack social media, via a social media ban for kids, which is obvious if you dig just a little bit below the surface.
One example is the Kids News website, which is targeted to years 3 to 12 and owned by Murdoch’s News Corp, which would stand to profit greatly if children were banned from spending time on its direct competitors websites which are the social media giants.
This is happening at a time when the Labor Party is also attacking free speech and political communication like there is no tomorrow via their new misinformation laws.
Misinformation law and the social media ban for children under 16
Firstly, there is the misinformation bill that has passed the House of Representatives and is now before the Senate, and secondly, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s plan to ban children under 16 from social media.
The government has a lot of questions to answer on both and has so far failed badly.
Social media ban for children under 16
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced the ban on the 7th of November 2024 and said on his website:
“I do want to single out NewsCorp for the campaign that they’ve run, Let Them Be Kids. It’s an example of a media organisation being engaged in something that’s of concern to the community”. (Click here to read more)
Anthony Albanese is doing Rupert Murdoch’s bidding trying to ban children from Facebook, YouTube and TikTok etc.
But there is a lot more to it, and if the social media ban for kids is introduced then all social media users will have to provide identification to the social media companies to open a social media account to prove you are 16 or over.
I published the below video on the 11th of November 2024 titled “Labor’s new social media laws tests everyone’s age. All Australians will have to provide ID”. It is a short video and explains parts of the proposed new social media ban laws and the government talks about doing a trial and further research which shows they only have half a plan, if that.
Rupert Murdoch and Lachlan Murdoch’s trojan horse
The Kids News website is really Rupert Murdoch and Lachlan Murdoch’s trojan horse to attack the social media giants that have crippled Murdoch’s papers over the last 20 years.
The reason we know this is because Anthony Albanese thanked News Corp when he announced the plan to ban children from social media.
The Kids News website, owned by Murdoch’s News Corp, reported on 7th of November 2024
“Mr Albanese paid tribute to News Corp Australia, publisher of Kids News, for its Let Them Be Kids campaign highlighting the community concern around children’s access to social media and the negative impacts on their mental and physical health.” (Click here to read more)
It says on the “about page” on the Kid News website:
“Kids News is a free, news-based literacy tool for classrooms. Register your email now to use kidsnews.com.au and sign up for the Kids News newsletter. You will find the link on the homepage under Sign Up Free.” (Click here to see)
If you click on the Kid News privacy policy link it takes you to the “News Corp Australia Privacy Policy” page which says in part:

Yes, school children in grades 3 to 12 are signing privacy agreements with Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp.
The same Rupert Murdoch and News Corp that sold papers in the UK for years paying 16-year-old-girls for topless photographs which Murdoch then published as page 3 girls in his UK papers to increase sales.
Rupert Murdoch and his son Lachlan Murdoch should be banned from going anywhere near children or schools.
Rupert Murdoch and News Corp are using the Kids News website for data harvesting of all Australian school children which they can then use as a database to boost advertising revenue. If those same children are banned from social media the value of the Kids News website would skyrocket.
If the Labor Party is successful in banning children under 16 from social media, then a big winner would be Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp and especially Murdoch’s The Kids News website.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and News Corp Chairman Lachlan Murdoch – Sydney July 2024
Other ways Rupert News Corp benefits
Above I used one example of how Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp would profit from a social media ban for kids. But all of Murdoch’s businesses would benefit because advertisers who currently pay the social media companies to target children would have to go back to paying the old media such as Murdoch’s News Corp papers and Foxtel etc to target children.
Other old media benefit
Other old media such as Nine Entertainment, who own Channel 9 and The SMH and The Age etc, and Seven West Media, who owns Channel 7 and The West Australian paper etc, would also benefit hugely from a social media ban for kids.
Channel 9 have been running a promo ad for a story on Sixty Minutes on Sunday night (17/11/24) on the social media ban and it sounds like a scare campaign designed to support the ban.
That is the same Channel Nine that ran a scare campaign on the 7th of March 2023 claiming war with China was only 3 years away, and Australia needed to prepare for war, which coincided with the $368 billion AUKUS deal that was announced a week later on the 14th of March 2023. Nine was running the Labor Party’s propaganda campaign.
I think Channel 9 will again be running the government’s propaganda campaign with their story on Sunday night (17/11/24), but lets wait and see.
All the old media have been damaged by the growth of the social media giants so have a financial motive to support the social media ban and whether it is goods for kids or not they couldn’t care less.
New misinformation laws
Some people are getting the kids social media ban, misinformation laws and the new Digital ID laws confused which is fair enough because it is confusing.
The government passed new Digital ID laws earlier this year and it comes into effect on the 1st of December 2024. Having a Digital ID is voluntary and not compulsory. (Click here to read more)
The kids social media ban I have dealt with above. The government still doesn’t know what they are doing, are still doing research and conducting trials as per the above video, so we’ll leave the ban there for the moment.
I published the below video titled “Biggest take down of politicians in parliament? A must watch – Labor’s Misinformation bill” on the 15/11/24.
The video is from the Misinformation bill Senate Committee hearing on Monday the 11th of November 2024.
It is Brian Marlow answering questions from 3 different politicians and well worth watching to get an understanding of the new Misinformation laws that may or may not pass the senate.
Both the misinformation bill and kids social media ban are about government and the old media controlling the narrative and from that controlling the power and money.
A couple of comments on the Kangaroo Court of Australia YouTube Channel some up the situation as per below:
1. The issue I believe is far beyond algorithms or implied censorship for “free speech” or whatever you want to call it. The issue I believe is that MSM is dying, this is the platform(s) from which politicians could control the representative public narrative without challenge, social media overrides exactly that.
As a new generation of humans / citizens / voting public abandon MSM and move to social media the politicians effectively lose control of their lies, distortions, and obfuscations. That is why Albo is doing it AND why Dutton is supporting it! (Dutton supports the social media ban for kids)
2. And a) “They are struggling to maintain their previous “narrations of lies” on MSM because no one is there listening and b) on social media every time they lie or fabric some BS they get called out, that’s what they are trying to rein in…”
3. Another person said: “What else is Labor up to, while distracting the people with this garbage.”
This article is not to answer all the questions regarding the new misinformation laws and social media ban for kids as a lot of questions for both remain unanswered by the government.
The article is about trying to at least fill in some of the blanks so people at least have a better understanding of the potential new laws which could be an issue for the federal election which is due by May 2025.

This Albanese is turning out to be a great Liberal PM, probably on par with the other most embarrassing PM in the history of Australia, that previous dud, Hon Tony Abbott, not only has Albo sold Australia down the drain but he’s turned Australia into the 51st state of USA, answerable only to Washington, given up our sovereignty whilst at the same time lining his own pockets with whatever freebies he can get, now going full bore groveling to the horrible Murdoch clan of thieves, notice there was no effort for this Albo creep to name the former federal politician who allegedly sold out Australia to a foreign country for that same former politicians personal financial gain, think most people know who that Senator was and who he was dealing with, then to top off Albos horrible lack of judgment he went hand in hand with the opposition to set up a dud federal crime commission that protects corrupt politicians, the Centrelink robodebt disgrace not only has Morrissons gang of corruptible grubby fingerprints on it but the protection continues with Albo and Co in their complicity in ensuring no MP current or past can be prosecuted. There seems to be much likeness to the newly elected President of Argentina and the current federal LNP Government thinly disguised as being of Labor colours.
very difficult to reconcile that on Albo’s watch the Robodebt 6 may avoid prosecution whilst whistleblowers McBride and possibly Boyle whose actions more in line with Labor values are the ones doing jail time.
Please share this Kangaroo Court article far and wide.
The crooked bed company must be making heaps now. How can these politicians sleep straight in bed?
Wot’s MSM?
Main Stream Media – News Corp, ABC, Nine and Seven etc – I call them the old media – Others call them the legacy media
This whole ‘We have to protect the kids from Social Media’ business suffers from a number of problems in addition to those that Shane has raised. For example: (1) It doesn’t appear to have been based on any research that clearly demonstrates that the majority of under 16s are deleteriously affected by accessing social media. Telling us that he’s ‘talked to thousands of parents’ (an obvious untruth) is not good enough. (2) This first started by trying to limit access to pornography by children, which seems to have fallen by the wayside. In both cases (Social Media and pornography), the obvious thrust of the Governments policy is to force everyone to obtain digital ID. There have been previous attempts by Government to mandate ID on the Australian public – which were all roundly rejected. But to protect the kiddies? Gee, we’d better all get with the program. (3) While it’s going to be against the law for kids under 16 to access Social Media, neither they nor their parents will be punished if they disobey the law (seemingly a first in the history of lawfare). The Social Media they access will be the one punished. (4) I have yet to find an all-encompassing definition for which Internet programs would be classed as ‘Social Media’ (Would Kangaroo Court fall under that umbrella?). (5) The last thing we need is yet another victimless activity to be banned and criminalised. None of them have ever worked. In this case, I would imagine many parents would simply sign their kids in under their own digital ID (remember they won’t be punished).
Fair dinkum, I’m beyond tired of being led down the garden path by these so-called leaders. It’s like they’re too caught up in their own nonsense and political survival; to actually see the damage they’re doing to our communities.
Their clueless decisions are tearing at the fabric of society – breaking trust, dividing people, and leaving us all to pick up the pieces of their stupidity. We deserve leaders who bring us together, not ones who make a mess and leave us worse off than before.
More knee jerk reactions. Never any real thought or conference.
1. How does the proposed social media ban for children under 16 balance the interests of public health, privacy, and freedom of access to information, especially when concerns of corporate benefit and data harvesting by organizations like News Corp arise?
2. To what extent do the Labor Party’s misinformation laws and social media restrictions impact the democratic principles of free speech and political communication, and how are these measures being transparently justified to the public?
3. What safeguards are in place to ensure that the new legislation, including the social media ban and misinformation laws, does not disproportionately serve the interests of legacy media corporations, such as Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp, at the expense of citizen freedoms and the modern digital economy?
As the Albanese government moves forward with its social media ban and misinformation legislation, it is IMPERITIVE to address the ethical and democratic concerns raised by these measures. Ensuring transparency, fairness, and the PROTECTION of individual freedoms is critical to maintaining public TRUST. Without adequate safeguards, these policies risk empowering corporate interests at the expense of Australian citizens’ RIGHTS and FREEDOMS. In this light, the government must engage in OPEN DIALOGUE with stakeholders and offer clear, evidence-based justifications to demonstrate that these initiatives are genuinely for the public good.
