Ita Buttrose, former ABC Chair, gave evidence under oath on the witness box on Tuesday (11/2/25) in Antoinette Lattouf’s unlawful termination case against the ABC and Ms Buttrose did not hesitate to perjurer herself like no tomorrow.
I published a video on Tuesday night (11/2/25), as per below, which focuses on a key piece of Ita Buttrose’s perjured evidence and it’s well worth watching.
The video contains media reports on Ita Buttrose’s evidence, a section of ABC Managing Director David Anderson’s affidavit filed in the same court case and part of Media Watch’s Monday show (10/2/25). When put together there is no doubt Ita Buttrose gave knowingly and deliberately false evidence under oath.

Why did Ita Buttrose go over ABC Managing Director David Anderson’s head and start dealing directly with the ABC’s Chief Content Officer Chris Oliver-Taylor?
Ita Buttrose gave evidence she was directed to do so by David Anderson, but David Anderson gave contradictory evidence saying he told Ita Buttrose he would prefer she didn’t.

Ita gave evidence she had never before sent complaints directly to ABC’s Chris Oliver-Taylor, in the 5 years she was the ABC’s Chair, and only did it because the ABC’s MD David Anderson told her to.

The SMH reported on Tuesday (11/2/25): “Anderson asked her to forward the emails onto content chief Chris Oliver-Taylor so he could “learn the folly of not checking the references of somebody that we hired”, says Buttrose.”

I published a video titled “ABC’s Ita Buttrose to feel the heat on the witness stand in Federal Court” and an article on the 9th of February titled “Ita “We owe her nothing” Buttrose to give evidence in the Federal Court this week” which said in part:

“Oliver-Taylor said he was put between a “rock and a hard place” when it came to Lattouf’s position as a casual presenter on ABC Radio Sydney. He detailed “pressure from above” from colleagues, including the then chair, Ita Buttrose, over Lattouf’s appointment. He said: “The chair [Buttrose] was directly writing to me, the chair’s office and the chair were directly forwarding me more and more and more concerns and naming me as a respondent in the claims … There was pressure from above, I accept that.”

Why did Ita Buttrose communicate directly with ABC content chief, Chris Oliver-Taylor? Once Buttrose did that she was overriding the Managing Director in a day-to-day operational matter and both Managing Director David Anderson and Chris Oliver-Taylor would have been aware of that and felt pressured to act.
The chairperson of any company or organisation should only be dealing with the CEO / Managing Director with the exception of when lower-level managers present to the board on various issues.
Ita Buttrose also should not have been anywhere near the complaints from the Lawyers for Israel WhatsApp group and if they emailed her complaints directly she should have emailed them back with a link to the ABC’s website page for making complaints and that is all she should have done.
Once Ita Buttrose started emailing Chris Oliver-Taylor directly with the complaints from the “Lawyers for Israel” WhatsApp group and telling the group that Oliver-Taylor was dealing with it she was also in effect telling Oliver-Taylor to do what the “Lawyers for Israel” WhatsApp group want. Conclusion
The ABC and it’s lawyers and barristers have all thrown Ita Buttrose under a bus but maybe they had no choice because that is the only lie she could tell or would tell. They all knew there would be contradictory evidence that would expose Buttrose for perjury.
Ita Buttrose knew her actions were an abuse of power and that is why she lied under oath.
Ita Buttrose emailed the Lawyers from Israel WhatsApp Group directly before and after Antoinette Lattouf was sacked which shows where Buttrose’s loyalty was and still is.
Antoinette Lattouf’s unlawful termination case is set down for another 2 days on the 27th and 28th of February for closing arguments. I would expect the judge to reserve his decision and then likely give a judgement 3 to 6 months after that, although it could be longer.

Buttrose had the gall to refer to Lattouf as an activist. I believe that she herself was behaving an an activist by supporting the Jewish Council and reacting to their complaints. It appears to me to have been extreme bullying to support her beliefs.
Bullying indeed. It would be illuminating to know the membership of “Lawyers for Israel”. They have inflamed anti-semitic feeling and should be prosecuted and disbarred for it. And to think it has been done in our name and at our expense.
She is a part Jewish catholic. Give me an activist any day.
Ms Buttrose should have stayed with 9 media, more her style and now best she relies on the ‘can’t recall’ defence… don’t believe her evidence will affect her credibility or the credibility of ABC in general, neither are deemed by large percentage of former ABC viewers to be worthy of much at all. Murdoch must be most happy with his believers who control content of the once reliable ABC news and current affairs departments. ABC close to being on par with horrible horrible Sky. Neither have high ratings or number of supporters.
IMO the writing was on the wall for the integrity of the ABC from the 2018 mid-terms when Steve Bannon was given a platform on 4 Corns & 7.30 respectively per the capable hands of Sarah Ferguson, who ultimately melted before his lying blarney. When one assumes that senior journalists will do their homework and hold their ground rather than cave like teenage groupies – whether or no the broadcaster insists on giving a right wing criminal Trump strategist oxygen – it’s hasta la vista national broadcaster.
That Ita can perjure herself is merely par for the decline, begging the question as to how it was she who got the top job. So have to agree with Alison Aplin’s comment with my own take on Ita’s ‘activist’ comment that it was a typical conservative ‘projection’ (e.g. classic Trump) – with which it seems David Anderson was in tacit agreement.
It’s a whole ABC culture thang now, whereby bipartisanship means toadying to the conservatives in a shift to the Right.
One of the most arrogant displays from a witness giving testimony I’ve ever seen. David Anderson was not just thrown under the bus, he was hurled under it. Incriminating statements she had made were flippantly dismissed as ‘human errors’. And I’m beginning to think that the ABC definition of an ‘activist’ is simply anyone who expresses an opinion. Watching the various levels of ABC management desperately trying to avoid admitting that this whole sorry affair was nothing more than a knee-jerk capitulation to a coordinated action by one of the Zionist lobby groups was pretty depressing.

Let’s hope this court case exposes this almost manic micro managed control these “Operatives” have had over the media and political narrative in this country for decades. This hasn’t happened over night, this behaviour has been going on probably since the forced establishment of Israel in Palestine.
I wrote to the “Letters to the Editor ,SMH”, well over 20 years ago about the history of the forced settlement in Palestine. The SMH refused to post it, so I contacted the editor in a phone call and he politely told me, apologising, look I know everything you have written is factual and correct. But If the SMH were to publish this, by morning tea time, we would be inundated by a hundreds of complaints, from over half a dozen different Jewish operative organisations, threatening to unleash their usual hell fire on Fairfax media, the SMH. He said, it’s pathetic state of affairs and completely wrong, but management has directed, that it’s just not worth the hassle to take them on.
This is the same tactic used on Buttrose and the ABC, that they have used for decades!
That is what we are dealing with in this country. These well coordinated operatives need to be exposed for just what they are, which really is just a “piss and wind bluffing machine”, that needs to be held to the exact same account, as everyone and everything else in this country, should be allowed to speak the truth, with real facts, with free speech.

We have always had the rich and powerful influencing the governance of Australia but has there been an example of a political movement not part of our national or state parliaments been allowed to have so much control over our parliament, our media and now our laws and rights to free speech and opinion?
It is steadily and disturbingly creeping into the very substance of our society and culture. Zionism is with Nazism one of the most evil and brutal political movements that has ever existed on this earth.
There is no place for it in multi-cultural Australia and anyone who is part of this machine of mass killing, lying and theft should go and live in Israel.
Furthermore, anyone who takes part in the colonising of Palestinian lands and murderous activities of the Israeli Defence Forces or other political activities, ought not be permitted to return to Australia.
Our media, especially the ABC and our governments and those persons of prominence and significance who have not spoken out against the recent spate of genocidal actions in order to grab more land through ethnic cleansing, are shameful, and morally deficient.

Instead of bowing to the ‘Israel lobby’ and spewing nonsense in response to the violence such as Albanese’s “we will hunt you down”, “this should not happen in Australia”, Federal and state governments of all stripes should be unified in clarifying for their constituents the religiopolitical distinction between Judaism and Zionism and the fundamental fact that not all Jews are Zionists – nor even practitioners of Judaism.
No one – least of all secular and practising Jews both in Israel and among the diaspora such as here in Australia who do not support Zionism – should have to bear the brunt of domestic antisemitic violence as some inevitable dimension of the range of community responses to the appalling, disproportionate atrocities committed by war criminal Netanyahu and his right-wing government.
Nor should anyone suffer unduly from the dismal failure of the leadership to prevent the fomentation of antisemitism in Oz, and Albanese needs to grow a pair and soon.
Perhaps then our ABC might attend to its remit for the Australian people and raise itself to real bipartisanship in the process without offending anyone.
This latest embarrassment for the ABC adds to the stench that has surrounded it over the last two plus decades. Its independence has been shattered by both political and foreign interference.
All the talk regarding foreign influence in recent times has been very misleading and selective. All we hear about is China China China and Russia Russia Russia but not a peep about US or Israel’s intensional and targeted interference.
The foreign influence by these two so-called allies is rife causing untold damage to our global reputation,national security and social cohesion. Not to mention the continual erosion it has caused on our civil liberties and free-speech that passed Australians fought and died for.

It is outrageous that the court has issued a 10yr order preventing the names of those activists in the Lawyers for Israel WhatsApp group – so much for “open justice being done and seen to be done”.
However I am certain that within a day or two of Lattouf’s dismissal they themselves were perfectly open about who they were and some used the own names when proclaiming how proud of their power to control the public narrative.
Unfortunately I didn’t note the names at the time as it never occurred to me that they would now be demanding anonymity.
