Alan Jones’ latest charges – What the old media report and what the truth is

Alan Jones’ lawyers were back in court on Tuesday (11/3/25) and were hit with another alleged victim and charge giving a total of 11 victims and 35 charges. Jones was excused from attending the hearing.

Some of the old media’s reporting has been off the mark so I thought I would give a quick update and correct some issues and add other relevant facts.

Background and new charges

Kate McClymont published an article on the SMH website on the 7th of December 2023 accusing Alan Jones of sexually assaulting a number of young men.

I published an article on the 9th of December 2023 titled “How alleged paedophile Alan Jones has been protected by the old media for decades” which starts off:

Former radio host Alan Jones has been accused by The Sydney Morning Herald (SMH), in an article written by journalist Kate McClymont titled “‘He’d go the grope’: Alan Jones accused of indecently assaulting young men”, of sexual assaulting 4 males which includes staff at radio station 2gb and other men.

But what it really exposes, which I am sure is unintended, is the decades long media cover-up that has protected Alan Jones.

Some examples of the cover-up are that Alan Jones’ grooming of schoolboys when he was a teacher at The Kings School in the 1970’s was published in a book in 2006 called Jonestown. It was written by well-known investigative journalist Chris Masters and there was a major scandal at the ABC when Alan Jones made legal threats. (Click here to read more)

The new charges relate to a new victim who has accused Jones of “grabbing and squeezing his bottom in Tamworth in June 2013”.

Jones’ lawyer, “raised more concerns about the media, telling the magistrate that the media knew about the additional charge within an hour of his client being charged last week.” and “his lawyer Bryan Wrench told the court that he had now received the brief of evidence and was aware that “the journalist who broke this story” had given a witness statement.”

And “As of today, she has published an article in the Sydney Morning Herald talking about the case when she’s a witness called in the proceedings,” Wrench told Sydney’s Downing Centre local court. “I’m worried it will be part of the anti-Jones crusade.” (Click here to read more)

Given Kate McClymont broke the story, has given the police a witness statement and will give evidence at the trial she shouldn’t be anywhere near the story anymore but for some reason McClymont and her bosses think it is ok for McClymont to continue writing about the matter.

With 11 complainants and 35 charges, and more complainants could come forward before the trial, the chances of Alan Jones beating all the charges isn’t great.

But even so, McClymont should keep her nose out of the story until at least after the trial because as we know Lisa Wilkinson gave an acceptance speech at the Logies which resulted in the Bruce Lehrmann rape trial to be delayed and if McClymont says one wrong word in any of her articles it could have an impact on the trial.

The Guardian’s dodgy reporting

The Guardian are normally fairly good with their reporting but they said the below on Monday (10/3/25) which is misleading as it doesn’t give all the information:

Historical allegations of indecent assault against Jones were raised in December 2023 by the Sydney Morning Herald’s investigative reporter Kate McClymont.

Jones denied all wrongdoing and said he was planning legal action against Nine newspapers for the “demonstrably false” allegations. (Click here to read more)

The Guardian failed to report a key fact in that Jones failed to follow up with his legal threat and that is important because it shows that Jones threat had no credibility but by not reporting the key fact the reader might think Jones might be following up with his defamation threat.

The SMH reported on Tuesday (11/3/25): “Jones denied the allegations raised by the Herald and The Age in December 2023 and threatened to sue but did not commence a defamation action.” (Click here to read more)

I would argue that both the Guardian and SMH should have gone further and wrote that Jones also instituted defamation proceedings against the SBS in October 2020 but discontinued the matter after the SBS filed a truth defence. (Click here to read more

And Alan Jones’s boyfriend and his parents also threatened me and this website with defamation proceedings in March 2020 but failed to follow through with it. (Click here to read more

Knowing Alan Jones background of making defamation threats against media and then failing to follow through with the matters helps show his defamation threats are frivolous at best given he has plenty of money to follow through if he wanted to.

Walkley awards

In December 2023 after Kate McClymont broke her story about Alan Jones I wrote the below:

While Kate McClymont’s article exposing Alan Jones sexually abusing 4 men is a major positive the bigger story is the media’s years of covering it up as I have no doubt there are dozens of victims including children during his time as a teacher and after he left teaching.

Will Kate McClymont win a Walkley or other media awards?

I wonder how much Kate McClymont knew and for how long? I have no doubt she has known for years but covered it up like the rest. The ultimate insult for all old media journalists and media industry people would be if Kate McClymont won a Walkley Award or other media awards for her story on Alan Jones sexually assaulting men because they would all know what a sham it is given they were all part of the cover-up. (Click here to read more)

Turns out I was on the money because The Guardian reported on the 22nd of November 2024:

Kate McClymont’s report that saw radio’s most powerful man arrested goes without a single nomination at Walkleys.

The arrest of Jones was the subject of much discussion when the media gathered on Tuesday night for the 69th Walkley awards at the International Convention Centre in Darling Harbour.

Attenders started to murmur about why McClymont wasn’t nominated for her investigation, first published on 7 December, which was within the eligible timeframe for this year’s gongs.

A series of articles and a number of follow-ups were entered in several categories. She wasn’t short-listed.

The Walkley Foundation said: “The Walkley Foundation can confirm that Kate McClymont’s Alan Jones investigation was entered in two categories, judged by two different panels of first-round judges in September. In neither case was Kate’s story named one of the three finalists.

“The Walkley Foundation does not comment on the judging process.” (Click here to read more)

Maybe the people doing the short-listing for the Walkleys read my article before they decided to snub McClymont and her Alan Jones articles or maybe it’s because they themselves were up to their necks in the cover-up.

Admin: Like many people in southeast Queensland, I lost power and had to deal with the issues from Cyclone Alfred but I’m back up and running now. I published a few videos on the KCA YouTube channel regarding the Cyclone.

  1. Keep on with the investigation and reporting of this so far alleged paedophile of boys and sexual assaulter/groper/squeezer of young men!

  2. There always will be coverups for one reason or another and then eventually there will be the exposure of the misdeeds that many already knew about, but MSM and bureaucracy turned a blind eye to. The crimes that will insight reaction the most from the public are sexual assault and or paedophilia. When I see accusations of this sort made about someone my first reaction is to ask why now and why him or her.
It has been a long time coming for Mr. Jones but what changed that made it happen, more new information from new witnesses? There is more to this story than Mr Jones and as you have written KCA there may be others that are complicit in the secret life of Mr Jones. Are those others now protected from any fallout and did Mr Jones make a deal? Will we ever hear the full story?

    • Good question. Why now and why not 20-30 years ago, when the general public knew but it was a fiercely guarded subject in the media. Friends in high places? Part of an equally well-known group?

  3. I am totally aghast, as to how, these alleged events can drag on for the years it apparently has!!!

    I have only question:

In my honest opinion, how does this kind of prolonged cover-up even happen?
Is it the combination of the usual factors of complacency, fear, and power dynamics at play?

Am I to believe that a high-profile figure like Alan Jones has enjoyed this degree of protection due to his influence, wealth, and networks. Does it mean journalists, institutions, and even victims might have hesitated to speak out, either because of legal threats, public relations pressure, or a lack of concrete evidence at the time.

Could it have been Jones’ public persona as a powerful broadcaster and his legal manoeuvring intimidating both media outlets and individuals who might have otherwise exposed the truth?

No matter the events or issues, over time, this behaviour creates a culture of silence, where the gravity of the allegations is downplayed, or outright ignored, until it reaches a breaking point – often decades later, when the weight of accumulated victims and evidence becomes too much to suppress.

  4. Congrats on how you skilfully and relentlessly keep after big fish like Jones, Campbell and Ita who are protected by our corrupt establishment.

  5. My sons went to Ironside school, then Brisbane Grammar School and they are both now in their 50s. It was known by school children back in those days.

This “reputation” was known when they attended both schools in Queensland, we were Sydney people.

It has always been known by the Rugby Union World etc.,

Hopefully we shall see a whittling down of names that are listed on the Kangaroo Court site, justice is long overdue.

  6. Why now, why not years ago? We all know which media protects which political party in this country for decades, for as long as many of us have been alive. Can anyone actually imagine attempting to investigate Jones, while you had Howard, Abbott, Morrison, Greiner, O’Farrell, Baird, Berijiklian, Perrottet, in office. Anyone working for the Murdoch News corp and most of the other media permitted to do any investigation or article about Jones? Look at whats changed Federally and NSW State, who’s been removed and now appointed and there’s your answer? Just look at the PM Gillard RC, into institutional clergy pedophilia and the vicious well co-ordinated retribution she suffered for years, from many of the usual political and media suspects? Could you ever imagine seeing a similar investigation into Institutional pedophilia opened up under an LNP Federal or NSW State Govt?
