Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and the Labor Party are trying to launder the $1 million “donation” they were promised by Felix Lee by breaking it up to smaller amounts and having it donated by different people.
The money laundering attempt was exposed by the Australian Financial Review (AFR) on Monday (27/7/28) but other media haven’t picked it up at this point.
It’s worth noting that the Labor Party in NSW has a history of dodgy donations and trying to launder the money.
In 2019 it was reported:
Labor has forfeited a $100,000 donation allegedly delivered to party headquarters in an Aldi shopping bag by banned donor and Chinese billionaire Huang Xiangmo.
The Independent Commission Against Corruption heard on Wednesday that New South Wales Labor had handed the $100,000 to the electoral commission because of doubts about its origins.
The commission has previously heard allegations that Huang’s alleged $100,000 donation was covered up using falsified donation records from 12 straw donors who claimed to have given the money at a 2015 Chinese Friends of Labor dinner.
Several of those supposed donors have now told ICAC they never made any such donations. (Click here to read more)
The background to the $1 million donation story
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese had dinner with 25-year-old Felix Lee about 9 others on Monday (20/7/26) and was promised a $1 million donation for the Labor Party for doing so.
Felix Lee runs an investment company called the Lee Family Office, which has $1.66 billion in assets, that is chaired by former federal Treasurer Joe Hockey.
Felis Lee’s father, Phillip Lee, has a history of having assets frozen over a $272 million tax debt and turning over $2.7 billion through Sydney’s The Star casino over 15 years. Phillip Lee no longer lives in Australia.
Turning over $2.7 billion at a casino that is well known for money laundering has to be money laundering, and where the money came from, no one seems to know.
The Lee Family Office has offices in Sydney, Newcastle, Singapore and Hong Kong. My guess is Phillip Lee still controls the company from Hong Kong.
On Tuesday the 21st of July 2026, the AFR broke the story of the Anthony Albanese and Felix Lee dinner with the $1 million donation. (Click here to read more)
Anthony Albanese and his government said nothing for days about the dinner and never denied the $1 million donation amount.
By Friday (24/7/26), after days of bad press, Labor started to background the media that the donation wasn’t $1 million but was about $100,000. But no one from Labor went on the record.
On Sunday (26/7/26), Prime Minister Anthony Albanese did an interview on the ABC’s Insiders, and when asked about the Lee dinner, he ducked and weaved, as per the below video, and he still didn’t deny the $1 million donation amount.
The below video is Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on Insiders (26/7/26) and then Minister for Social Services Tanya Plibersek trying to defend Anthony Albanese’s $1 million dinner on Seven’s Sunrise on Monday (27/7/26). I embedded myself in the videos and commentated.
The money laundering
The AFR reported on Monday the 27th of July 2026:
Meanwhile, senior Labor officials are trying to minimize the size of the donation that was promised as part of Albanese’s attendance. This column originally reported the Lee Family Office had discussed a $1 million donation in connection with the dinner, which may have included unnamed associates contributing to get to that number.
A Labor spokesman has since refuted the figure, and other unnamed “senior sources” have told other media outlets the party was in line to receive $100,000 in connection to the dinner. Those plans must have changed after the Financial Review reported the dinner had taken place.
Before the dinner, the Lee Family Office had discussions about how to account for a $1 million political donation on its books, according to a source familiar with the plans. The office intended to cut an upfront cheque for $250,000 and then proposed carrying a liability while other sources of funding were found, they said.
Last week, the office made arrangements to reduce the upfront donation to $100,000 – in line with what was later anonymously briefed to the media by Labor officials. (Click here to read the full article)
As I say in the above video, Labor and Albanese could now be in a lot of trouble if Phillip or Felix Lee has documented evidence, such as emails and text messages, of their dealings with Albanese and Labor for the $1 million donation.
Whoever has been leaking to the media from the Lee Family Office, which I suspect is Joe Hockey, is the one in control now.
This story has a long way to go, so I will keep following up.

Hopefully ICAC will get onto this murky business with a bit of alacrity & finish well before the next Federal election. Maybe the CCP could prosecute the money launderers as well & the ATO start seizing the multi million dollar properties of the Lee family & associates.
Nothing in the main media about the $110,000 paid to the Labor Party by each attendee at the dinner after the Chalmers budget last May.
Is this common practice? At any dinner Albanese attends?
Would I be right in saying that since the Labor party became Zionist this sort of criminality has increased
Albo getting more isolated by the day.
Not long now …
Remind anyone of student politics and how the left- so called bastions of free speech- were quick to shut or shout anyone down? Albo and co the spineless of all spineless… To see them on TV is more than any sane person can take.

Albo and ‘Dictator Dan’ under scrutiny for dining with controversial college owner
A dinner attended by Australian PM Anthony Albanese and former Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has come under scrutiny following revelations that one of the guests, wealthy businessman Rupinder Brar, was the owner of Barkly International College—a private education provider recently deregistered by Australian authorities.
The event, held on November 12 last year at a Toorak mansion, included several wealthy Indian businessmen. Footage from the dinner has sparked controversy, as attendees were reportedly discussing visas—a sensitive topic amid Australia’s crackdown on fraudulent international education providers.
And what about the following money gifts of taxpayers money , (a) $64 million to the media,Channels 7 & 9 & to media journalists. Was it a “bribe” to only garner good media news about the Labor party & Albo leading up to the next election, & (b) The $642 million to the major banks to slowly introduce & promote the CBDC’s (Central Banks Digital Currency) leading to the ID cards & eliminating of cash altogether sometime in the future. EXPLANATIONS REQUIRE for (a) & (b).
The major parties are losing votes and this is part of the reason. They are just too comfortable and too confident that the choice is one or the other so they share the spoils.
Too many backs have been scratched. Too many connections made, particularly with big money.
The old quote about politicians and diapers comes to mind.
