Senator James Paterson earns his Israeli $$$ by publicly attacking antisemitism Royal Commissioner Virginia Bell

Australian Senator James Paterson has made a frivolous and vexatious attack on antisemitism Royal Commissioner Virginia Bell for the benefit of Israeli supporting Jewish Zionists, which has nothing to do with Paterson’s role as an Australian Senator.

I accused Senator James Paterson of being on Israel’s payroll in an article published only a few weeks ago on the 16th of July 2026 titled “Israel bribes Liberal Senator James Paterson with free legal services from Arnold Bloch Leibler and Angus Taylor’s Israel trip”, which starts off:

Liberal Party Senator James Paterson is the latest politician to take a bribe from Israel via free legal services from Israeli-aligned law firm Arnold Block Leibler, who have offices in Melbourne and Sydney.

Arnold Bloch Leibler is home to Zionists Mark Leibler and his son Jeremy Leibler, who is also President of the Zionist Federation of Australia. (Click here to read the article)

And right on cue, Senator Paterson does Israel’s bidding by attacking antisemitism Royal Commissioner Virginia Bell, which helps prove my allegation.

The reason for the attack? Because Jewish groups weren’t happy with the way one of their witnesses was cross-examined in the witness box.

As it turns out, Israeli-aligned law firm Arnold Bloch Leibler is representing numerous Jewish groups at the Royal Commission, with their website saying:

A group of organisations that together represent Australia’s mainstream Jewish communal organisations at both national and state level have appointed Arnold Bloch Leibler, working with senior counsel, to represent them before the Royal Commission.

Some of the organisations are: Executive Council of Australian Jewry (ECAJ), NSW Jewish Board of Deputies (JBOD), Jewish Community Council of Victoria (JCCV), Zionist Federation of Australia (ZFA), National Council of Jewish Women of Australia (NCJWA), The Dor Foundation (Dor), Australia Israel Jewish Affairs Council (AIJAC). (Click here to see on their website)

Having Arnold Bloch Leibler represent Jewish organisations is the same as having Israel running their legal team at the Royal Commission.

Australian Jews are not happy to be cross-examined at the Royal Commission

Every day in courts and legal inquiries around Australia and the world, witnesses are cross-examined which is what helps courts and other legal proceedings make true and just decisions.

Cross-examinations often become aggressive, with witnesses being accused of lying and deceiving.

But some Australian Jews became very upset when one of their witnesses was cross-examined by a barrister representing Palestinian groups.

The Guardian reported (5/8/26):

Ragni Mathur SC, counsel for Australia Palestine Advocacy Network, asked a Jewish leader about the timeline of Israel’s response to Hamas’s 7 October 2023 attack in the context of a protest held at the Sydney Opera House two days later.

Alex Ryvchin, the Executive Council of Australian Jewry’s co-chief executive, told the Australian newspaper it was “deeply concerning that these groups predictably used the opportunity to hijack an examination of lethal antisemitism for their clickbait theatrics and gratuitous slurs against Israel”.

The NSW premier, Chris Minns, later told News24 Mathur’s questioning was “disappointing”. (Click here to read more)

Alex Ryvchin didn’t like the cross-examination of Jewish Board of Deputies president David Ossip, which was restricted to one paragraph of his witness statement, so he ran off to Rupert Murdoch’s The Australian and said the Royal Commission has been hijacked.

Saying the Royal Commission has been hijacked is in effect saying Royal Commissioner Virginia Bell in incompetent for allowing it to happen.

And then NSW Premier Chris Minns chips in by saying to Rupert Murdoch’s News24 (formerly Sky News) the “questioning was “disappointing”.

This forced Royal Commissioner Virginia Bell to address the allegations the following day (5/8/26) as per the below video:

But there is more, Senator James Paterson reposted a message from Rupert Murdoch’s Sharri Markson which also attacks Royal Commissioner Virginia Bell and Paterson adds his own attack.

Sharri Markson said on “X” (Formerly Twitter):

Commissioner Virginia Bell allowed the lawyers representing the Palestinian advocacy groups to cross-examine David Ossip about the actions of the Israeli government while he was giving evidence about the fear, trauma and antisemitism experienced by Australian Jews.

This was a profound perversion where a witness appearing before the Royal Commission was placed in the position of answering for the conduct of a foreign government.

This is victim-blaming – and the Royal Commission outrageously allowed it to unfold.

Worse still, allowing this line of questioning plays into the dangerous narrative that Australian Jews are legitimate proxies for Israel and may be blamed, challenged or held collectively accountable for events in the Middle East.

This conflation is at the heart of the antisemitism crisis that has swept Australia since October 7.

And it happened on the Royal Commission’s watch. (Click here to read more)

Sharri Markson is a major league Israeli government propagandist and it’s worth noting she says “allowing this line of questioning plays into the dangerous narrative that Australian Jews are legitimate proxies for Israel”

Sharri Markson says she is Jewish, and she had a private meeting with wanted war criminal Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in October 2024 which is very unusual. Why a private meeting for a journalist?

Since then, Sharri Markson has done a couple of soft interviews with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with one in August 2025 receiving widespread criticism by Australian journalists and its own Media Watch segment, as per below.

Senator James Paterson reposted Sharri Markson’s comment and added:

The Royal Commission is supposed to combat anti-semitism, not facilitate it. Cross-examining an Australian Jew about the actions of the Israeli government is an abuse of the process.

It should not happen again and David Ossip deserves an apology. (Click here to see on “X”)

Who does Senator James Paterson suggest should apologise to David Ossip, and for what? Having to answer questions under cross-examination at a Royal Commission?

The ABC in their article titled “Royal commissioner denies pro-Palestinian groups tried to ‘hijack’ antisemitism inquiry” quoted Senator James Paterson’s above comment on “X” which shows the value to Israel by having a Senator on the payroll.

I responded to James Paterson’s comment on “X” with a link to my article accusing him of being bribed by Israel, which he hasn’t responded to. (Click here to see on “X”)

Closing arguments

If there was a genuine legal basis to stop Jewish Board of Deputies president David Ossip from being cross-examined or certain questions stopped, then it would have been stopped by the lawyers representing the Jewish organisations, such as Arnold Bloch Leibler.

But it was not stopped because there was no legal basis to stop it, so Arnold Bloch Leibler’s client Alex Ryvchin, the Executive Council of Australian Jewry’s co-chief executive, ran off to Rupert Murdoch’s media.

Then other Murdoch media pushed the same lies with the help of NSW Premier Chris Minns.

And finally, we have Senator James Paterson, who receives free legal services from the Israeli-aligned law firm Arnold Block Leibler, pushing the same lies by promoting the lies of Israeli and Rupert Murdoch propagandist Sharri Markson and then adding his own lies.

It looks like Arnold Block Leibler, on behalf of Israel, couldn’t influence the Royal Commission how they would like inside the hearing room, so they decided to try to influence the Royal Commissioner outside the hearing room with the help of Rupert Murdoch and their paid puppet Senator James Paterson.

There is nothing that Senator James Paterson has done, as outlined above, that is in Australia’s interest, and Liberal politicians wonder why they are tanking in the polls.

  1. James Paterson, like Chris Minns and Peter Malinauskas, is a traitor to Australia, paid by Australian taxpayers but working for Israel. Why people put up with this, I will never understand. Perhaps it goes to the brainwashing we’ve experienced for the past three years, that’s been coming at us from all directions: politicians, media and the Australian Zionists whose allegiance is clearly, to Israel, not Australia. Personally, I’d like to see the lot of them, including our traitorous politicians and media, move back to Israel where they’ll be with their own kind.

    • I had written a comment in a similar vein before your comment was posted, Jen. And I so totally agree with you. Zionists have literally taken what looks like full control of the UK parliament. They’re on their way to doing it here. And Labor seem to be inviting them in!! The Coalition and ON will be the same. Corruption is rife in Australian politics and its absolutely disgusting. The only safe political options IMO are Independents and the Greens. I’m a regional voter, so our only option is really the Greens. But I’d like to see many more Independents in our parliamentS!

      • The worst part about this is, we clearly have interference by a foreign government. Along with most Western nations. And only one thing I can think of behind it – $$$. So these mongrels are enriching themselves by their traitorous behaviour towards the Australian public. Jail is too good for them. Justice is waaay overdue. But will we ever get it? Will the 2020s eventually pass and some form of sanity and human decency return?

    • Hi Jen, in this context, you’ll be pleased to see that a NSW Supreme Court judge (Justice Desmond Fagan) has rejected a bid to place a young Sydney man under a terrorism supervision order, finding that prosecutors wrongly conflated hostility towards Israel with hatred of Jewish people in assessing whether he posed a future terrorism risk. It will be interesting to see what happens to that judge!

      • It will, indeeed, Dave. But good to hear. It will also be interesting to hear the result of the current case against the Qld. government for outlawing phrases which they deem to be antisemitic.

  2. I am so sick to death of the Zionist Jews. Who on earth invited these rabid hecklers to infiltrate Australian politics? In my opinion, if they cant live nicely in Australia, without constant haranguing of Australian citizens, they should all be deported. And I bet the Zionists are behind this massive push to reduce immigration. They want Muslims stopped. Their actions are offensive to me and other decent Australians.

  3. Yes if Israel is such a lovely place why don’t they all go back there and stay there. And that includes Minns, and Malinauskas, Albo, Wong and Marles. Not to mention all the News Ltd lot. Australia would be much better off with them gone and given how wonderful they think Israel is they would be much happier over there surely?

    • Add Bill Shorten and Jim Chalmers too. Though they would be the settlers who with the IDF use bulldozers to destroy Palestinian homes in the West Bank. Now. And have for decades.
Israel loyalist neoliberal Treasurer Chalmers gave the wealthy 120,000 Jewish Australians over $600million in the budget. As well as tax cuts for higher income Australians.
But nothing for poorer adults, women and children and nature.
Both would fit into the Liberal Party easily.
Further, about 50,000 Israelis are leaving Israel annually. From the Times of Israel. How many are settling in Australia?
Segal and her Jewish friends have the power to decide who is allowed into Australia. And who isn’t. One of Chalmers gifts to them.

      • “Israel loyalist neoliberal Treasurer Chalmers gave the wealthy 120,000 Jewish Australians over $600million in the budget.”
        $5,000 each? Probably not.
Worth noting that Jews aren’t counted in the Census, that 120,000 figure is people who identified Judaism as their religion.
Since the religion question is optional and most Jews are Atheists, that figure should be at least 500,000, in my opinion.

    • Yess please!
At least Netanyahu is correct in his comment on weak leadership in Australia.
That applies at both state and federal level.
      Sycophants all.

Rivers to the sea could almost be a Qld state description.
Minns still lives within the Rum Rebellion scenario.

I could go on, but I think most Australian electors realize we are not well served by the people we stupidly elected.

  4. I’ve got skin in this game as my mother was Jewish. What does me in, every time, is that the original survivors of the first Holocaust made a two worded covenant with the whole world. “Never Again!” And what do we hear? Crickets!

And now for the unending hypocrisy. It’s come to our elected representatives being bought to silence our criticism of the crime of the century. Gaza real estate being sold in Australia to Aussie land developers.

    • “Gaza real estate being sold in Australia to Aussie land developers.”
If it’s being sold by the legal owners, which would have to be the case, where’s the issue with that?

  5. Alex Ryvchin complained that the Royal Commission had been hijacked. Well, that’s quite true. It was hijacked right at the beginning… by his zionists!

  6. James Paterson has always been a snake in the grass! He serves foreign interests and has no interest in average Australians.

    • SS didn’t allow beards.
On that subject, my old F-I-L used to say Greens icon Dr Bob Brown reminded him of Reinhard Heydrich.

  7. Most Jews say Israel must never be criticised. And Labor agrees. Why we have Segal and other Jewish Australians given influence, privilege, and power to punish Australians. Which has/is happening.
As well as loss of freedom of speech.

  8. I guess we will now have ‘grave concern Wong’ expressing just that but f all else now that predictably the Israeli PM has said no to Trump’s peace plan for Gaza? And the rest of the Congo line on both sides will fall into place.

  9. What strikes me most about this article is the extraordinary willingness of politicians and commentators to attack a Royal Commissioner over the mere fact that a witness was subjected to cross-examination.

Cross-examination is not an insult, nor is it victim-blaming. It is a fundamental part of testing evidence in any serious legal proceeding. If particular questions were improper, there were lawyers present to object and a commissioner with the authority to intervene.

Instead, we now have politicians, media commentators and interested organisations publicly attacking Commissioner Virginia Bell because they disliked the questions being asked.

That raises a much bigger question: who exactly is supposed to control a Royal Commission — the Commissioner conducting the inquiry, or the political and media campaign surrounding it?

And if Senator Paterson believes the questioning was legally improper, perhaps he should explain precisely which rule or principle was breached, rather than simply demanding an apology.

The public deserves an inquiry that follows the evidence wherever it leads — not one constrained by political sensitivities.

  10. “Most Jews say Israel must never be criticised. And Labor agrees. Why we have Segal and other Jewish Australians given influence, privilege, and power to punish Australians.”

It is somewhat concerning that various commenters here may be inadvertently creating opportunities for ‘conflation creep’: that is, the conflation of Zionism (ideology behind the Jewish state of Israel) and Jewish nationality and Judaism (religious affiliation) more broadly and diasporically.

Also flapping about amongst the commentariat are ‘tropes’ associated with anti-semitism – Nazism (Trey Torr & Lisburn Street), ‘repatriation’ (if you love Israel so much why not go and live there; Jen/Aplin/Richard Head), Israeli/Zionist $$$$ buying influence; Lisburn Street) – sounding a little cheer squadish.

Peter Beinart addresses a range of historical facts and misconceptions underpinning the Gaza/Israeli war in his very readable and informative 2025 book. He is highly critical of the organized American Jewish community’s use of antisemitism accusations to suppress criticism of Israel, arguing that this practice both cheapens the concept of antisemitism and endangers Jews by conflating Jewish identity with support for Israeli policy (Wiki). Of course this is precisely the line that Albanese has been toeing with his sycophantic pseudo-heroics post Bondi and the expeditious politics of Segals’ ‘false flag’ RC at the behest of the Zionist Federation of Australia.

Nonetheless in our rejection of Netanyahu’s horrendous ethnic cleansing project we may need to be more circumspect in our expressions of outrage if we do not wish to slip into the linguistic conflations that provide grist to the antisemitism mill. Only by being vigilant in this regard can community conversations (we live after all in a parliamentary democracy) progress to the point of being a positive influence for change, perhaps even for the right calls to be made that restore rationality, truth, and justice to public proceedings such as the decision by the NSW Supreme Court judge (Justice Desmond Fagan) commented on by Dave Grounds (thank you).

  11. And so heartening to see Langton appearing before the Commission commiserating with Australian Israelis. Rather ironic given indigenous Australians have spent years complaining about the theft of their land when in Israel Palestinians are suffering the same fate. I guess Israeli apologist Mugsey will see this comment as just another trope. Anything that dares to criticise the actions of Israel is always dismissed as the same.
