Alan Jones’ criminal trial for allegedly sexually assaulting 6 males is currently afoot but the old media are not reporting all the facts, never have, and have been in cover-up mode for decades.
Jones’ trial is currently scheduled to last until December 2026 and I will outline some of the key facts you won’t find elsewhere that you should consider when watching the reporting of the trial.
The old media cover-up
A prime example of the cover-up is the fact that the Nine Entertainment owned SMH like to claim that it was reporting by journalist Kate McClymont that exposed Alan Jones’ crimes and led to a police investigation and charges.
But the reality is the old media protected Jones for decades and there needs to be an investigation into the cover-up.
Even The Walkley Awards, which are “presented in Australia to recognise and reward excellence in journalism,” wouldn’t short-list Kate McClymont’s reporting on Alan Jones which was obviously because it would have been humiliating for most of the people in the audience at the awards given they were all part of the cover-up.
Back in 1998 Chopper Read called out Alan Jones on Nine’s Midday Show as per the below video.
As I point out in the video they are complaining about Chopper Read, a known criminal, being given a platform on the ABC yet Australia’s old media were happy to give Alan Jones, a known sexual predator, a platform for decades.

Legal liability for Alan Jones’ crimes by media companies
Some of the media companies reporting on the case could be liable for future civil claims given several of the crimes happened against their staff in their workplace.
Specifically, Nine Entertainment and its subsidiaries Fairfax Media and 2GB could be sued for failure to provide a safe workplace given it was well-known at 2GB that Jones sexually assaulted staff at 2GB while it was owned by Fairfax Media. Fairfax merged with Nine in 2018.
Alan Jones worked as a talkback host at radio station 2GB where at least one of the alleged victims also worked and the victim says they were assaulted in the workplace.
It is feasible that civil lawsuits from former staff could be filed even if they didn’t give evidence at Jones current trial. Maybe even a class action against 2GB and/or Nine Entertainment could happen in the future.
The SMH reported on Sunday (2/8/26):
Now, the 20 counts of indecent assault and two counts of sexual touching spanning 17 years will be tested in a lengthy judge-alone Local Court trial that could last until close to Christmas. The proceedings involve six complainants and more than 70 witnesses.
The alleged crimes’ locations range from private spaces such as inside lifts at Jones’ residences and workplaces, to public venues including at fundraising events and a restaurant.
Accusations of unsolicited and unwanted touching of the alleged victims’ genitals or bottom or kissing their lips span from 2003 to 2020. (Click here to read more)
At least one victim, complainant J, was a 17-year-old schoolboy at the time of the assault.
The schoolboy’s allegations are consistent with an article I published in May 2015 titled “2GB’s Alan Jones sent love letters to a school boy. Why has he never been charged with grooming?” which starts off:
Sydney radio station 2GB’s Alan Jones sent love letters to schoolboys, had boys in his room late at night and perved on them in the shower when he was a teacher at The King’s School in Sydney in the early 1970’s. This behaviour led to Alan Jones’ forced resignation in 1975.
That type of conduct would be considered grooming today and the police would be called for sure. And if it was anyone but Alan Jones the matter of the forced resignation by The King’s School would have been given a start at the current Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. It’s ironic that Alan Jones instituted defamation proceedings against the SBS in October 2020 for “implying he is a paedophile, racist and liar“.
On the 7th of December 2020 I sent Alan Jones lawyers some questions and published an article titled “Alan Jones refuses to deny having sex with schoolboys when he was a teacher in defamation case against the SBS“.
Then Jones settled on the 24th of December 2020 and I published an article titled “Alleged paedophile Alan Jones settled defamation case with SBS after they filed a truth defence and Australian media covered it up“.
So, Jones and his lawyers talked tough and filed a defamation case in the Federal Court claiming he had been falsely accused of being a paedophile, racist and liar by the SBS. But once the SBS filed a truth defence Jones and his lawyers quickly discontinued the case.
It’s worth noting that Alan Jones also paid for his then 22-year-old boyfriend Jake Thrupp and his parents to threaten me with defamation proceedings in February 2020 after I published an article on the 12th of February 2020 titled “Alan Jones is back grooming young male students for his sexual pleasure” which starts off:
Alan Jones has a long history of being a sexual predator of young males and is now in a sexual relationship with 22-year-old university student Jake Thrupp who is also employed by the 78-year-old Mr Jones on a part-time basis.
The reason we know this is because Jones’s employer Nine Entertainment ran not one, but two stories on the scandal last year and while they did not expressly state Jones and Thrupp are in a sexual relationship they said enough so the reader is in no doubt that is the situation. After I received Jake Thrupp’s defamation threat on the 19th of February 2020, from Alan Jones’s lawyers, I published an article titled “Alan Jones’s 22-year-old boyfriend Jake Thrupp sends a legal threat to journalist.” (Click here to read the article)
I never heard from Alan Jones or Jake Thrupp again.
Some of the relevant facts you won’t find the old media reporting about Alan Jones are:
- How Alan Jones was outed on national TV in 1998 on Channel Nine’s Midday show. As per the above video.
- How Jones was outed in Chris Masters 2006 book “Jonestown: The Power and The Myth of Alan Jones” for grooming schoolboys while he was a teacher.
- How Alan Jones instituted defamation proceedings against the SBS for implying he is a paedophile, racist and liar but discontinued the case once the SBS filed a truth defence.
- How Alan Jones paid for his then 22-year-old boyfriend Jake Thrupp and his parents to threaten me with defamation but failing to follow through with the threat.
- Nine Entertainment’s potential civil liability for covering up Alan Jones’ crimes.
Given the prosecution case against Alan Jones is that Jones used his power, influence, and financial gifts to groom and sexually assault young males without their consent I think the above 5 points are relevant issues the old media should also be reporting so that the public get the full story.
I’ve been reporting on Alan Jones since 2015 for being a sexual predator.
But the old media won’t report the full story because they themselves are part of the story once you start examining the cover-up that has protected Alan Jones for decades.

Once again, old media has a lot to answer for. Especially given some of their own were victims of this man.
Personally, I’ll be very happy to see this smug, moralising, egotist shown up for what he is, a pedophile.
Oops, alleged pedophile.
What about some 30 years ago, when Jones was arrested with a young person in a toilet block and I believe it was in London when he was coaching the Australian Rugby Union team?
It wasn’t a young person.
It was an undercover cop.
It was a case of entrapment.
Was entrapment allowed in the UK back then? Whatever, I for some reason remember this event vividly as though it was yesterday.
It’s the hypocrisy of the man that gets me. It was obvious during his early rugby coaching days he was gay , even after the London public toilet charges he still denied his homosexuality , and then defending Israel Folau was another example of hypocrisy. Just admit who you are Alan , maybe you will find some peace.
Are there Alan Jones lurking in the corridor of power / media and yet to be smoked out. The Alan Jones vintage ranting about principles and morality like his kind has been hauled to court. Hopefully our legal system is robust enough to shred the scum. Oops the alleged scum.
Well, the Parliament Prayer Room scandal disappeared pretty damn quick, didn’t it? It was almost sleight of hand the way it vanished from right in front of us. You’d think the story had never existed the way the media went quiet and moved on. We never heard any more of it. So the answer to are there more of them lurking in the corridors of power: The above should explain it.
Alan Jones, one of the many and loud global warming deniers – burning fossil fuels creates heating gases, CO2, warming the air and oceans.
He put up fake arguments against this and had many followers, the main reason why he was protected by the old media.
Number 1 should be “Alan Jones was arrested for soliciting a policeman in a London public toilet and got away with it.”
Kerry Ann couldn’t shut that down fast enough which is a perfect example of how, although his conduct with young boys was the worst kept secret in Sydney, everyone in the media colluded to cover it up and looked away while he created more victims. They cared more about power and money than they cared about sexual assault victims. Fact.
Now Jones is crying that he’s ‘getting a trial by media’ which is ironic since he spent decades doing exactly that to others. However it just doesn’t wash since a giant protection racket was orchestrated and undertaken by the media expressly to protect him and let him continue to commit crimes. I mean how many decades of a free pass does he want? The dirty old coot will shuffle off this coil soon anyway, and it won’t be a day too soon. A demon that walks the earth, personified.
It was common knowledge decades ago that he was gay. That’s OK itself, but he was hypocritically moralising from the rooftops. Just like Lindsay Graham in the USA.
I wonder why Jones is being tried by a judge alone in a court which has limited sentencing power? With the seriousness of the criminal charges levelled shouldn’t he be judged by his peers in a jury trial?
