Prime Minster Anthony Albanese are trying to pass half complete legislation for the Kids social media ban, with a promise to Google and YouTube to fill in the blanks later, which is very similar to the deceitful strategy Albanese and Labor used to legislate the fake National Anti-Corruption Commission.
The proposed Kids social media ban is a lot broader than just the Google owned YouTube but it worth looking at the lies the government is telling YouTube as it gives a good indication that the government is lying to everyone about the true motives for the ban for children.
(This article is a follow-up to the article I published on the 17/11/24 titled “Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp set to make $millions from Labor’s social media ban for kids” Click here to read the article)
YouTube, who are owned by Google, sent me an email late on Friday night with their concerns pointing out the dodgy way the government are trying to pass the new laws.
The reason YouTube sent me the email is because I am a YouTube content creator, and on their email list, and I earn money (a small amount) from the ads YouTube play during my videos.
The YouTube email is below but it is worth noting what YouTube / Google said early on Friday and compare that to what YouTube said late on Friday night in their email to me.
The government is trying to rush the new laws for the Kids social media ban through parliament and there is a lot of confusion with everyone involved. And that is the way the government have planned it as they don’t want any scrutiny of the new laws.
I published a video on this matter on Saturday (23/11/24) as per below. (Click anywhere on the below picture to watch the video)
During the day on Friday (22/11/24) it was reported by the ABC at 10.26am:
YouTube has responded to the news it would be exempt under the proposed social media ban.
Children under 16 would be banned from TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook, and require social media companies to take “reasonable steps” to prevent their access.
YouTube was previously expected to be included in the ban with the children’s version of the site YouTube Kids offered as a “probable candidate” for exemption.
Google and YouTube Australia’s public policy senior manager, Rachel Lord, says she appreciated the government’s change of thinking.
“We appreciate the government’s recognition that YouTube ‘operates with a significant purpose to enable young people to get the education and health support they need’ and that there needs to be a pathway to preserve access,” she wrote in a blog post this morning.
“We understand the complexities of regulating digital platforms, and welcome the government’s intention to adopt a nuanced approach to different services.
“We will continue to work with the government through collaboration and open dialogue, and are hopeful they will reflect their intention to exempt YouTube in the final bill.” (Click here to see on the ABC website)
Late Friday night YouTube sent an email to me, and I assume all Australian YouTube creators, that was more alarming as per below. The below email was sent at 11.27pm Friday night (22/11/24):

Subject: Important update: Proposed Australian law may impact your audience on YouTube
Hi Kangaroo Court of Australia,
We’re writing to inform you about a proposed Australian bill that may affect you as a creator. If passed, this law could change how young Australians access your content on YouTube, limiting your ability to entertain and educate these viewers.
Here’s what’s happening:
On November 21, the Australian Government introduced legislation to Parliament that will ban anyone under 16 from having an account on a broad range of social media platforms.
While the Government has said that it intends to exempt YouTube as a service that is health and education related, this is not included in the bill itself. Instead, the Government has said it will do so through a separate process at some point in the future.
We appreciate the Government’s undertaking. But as a matter of good policy we have requested that the Government reflect its policy intention in the bill itself and not claim it will be dealt with later. Doing so will provide certainty to our users and our creators.
We are concerned that by not doing so, there remains a real risk that YouTube would be required to remove existing account holders who are under 16 and prevent anyone under 16 from creating an account.
What this means for you:
If the bill passes in its current form, it could potentially prevent Australian users under 16 from accessing any content – including helpful and informative content from creators like you – on YouTube.
We remain committed to keeping Australian families safe by ensuring YouTube remains a healthy and enriching place for kids and teens. Guiding our work in this space are YouTube’s Youth Principles that place the safety, mental health, and well-being of kids and teens as a top priority. But we are concerned that YouTube’s inclusion in this bill risks potentially cutting off access for those under 16 to the educational content, news and sports highlights, music videos, and entertainment they currently enjoy on YouTube.
YouTube will continue to work constructively with the Australian Government on this legislation to ensure that creators like you can continue to provide high-quality content for Australian users.
You can learn more about YouTube’s response to the bill here.
Thanks,
Team YouTube
Summary
On Thursday (21/11/24) the government introduced the legislation with the intentions of passing the new laws next week.
On Friday (22/11/24) at 10.26am Google / YouTube said: “We will continue to work with the government through collaboration and open dialogue, and are hopeful they will reflect their intention to exempt YouTube in the final bill.”
By Friday night (22/11/24) at 11.27pm Google / YouTube had changed their tune, after the government revealed their true plans, and said:
“While the Government has said that it intends to exempt YouTube as a service that is health and education related, this is not included in the bill itself. Instead, the Government has said it will do so through a separate process at some point in the future.“
“We appreciate the Government’s undertaking. But as a matter of good policy we have requested that the Government reflect its policy intention in the bill itself and not claim it will be dealt with later.“
Anthony Albanese and Labor are trying the old “we will do it later” routine with what they are telling Google / YouTube, but Google / YouTube aren’t buying the lie.
Anthony Albanese and Labor could add the exemption for YouTube to the proposed legislation in 5 minutes if they wanted to and the fact they won’t is very telling and an obvious giveaway they are lying.
What Anthony Albanese and Labor are trying with the new Kids social media ban laws is the same as they told voters before the 2022 federal election, that they would introduce a National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) that would have public hearings.
But once in power Anthony Albanese and Labor reneged on that promise and we now have a fake NACC operating in secret that covers up corruption instead of exposing it. No one trusts Anthony Albanese and the federal government anymore, not even Google and YouTube.
The Kids social media ban has nothing to do with protecting children and everything to do with Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp protecting their profitability as I wrote in the previous article on this matter.
Anthony Albanese has taken a huge roll of the dice on this one and it is almost certain to backfire as he has taken on all social media users.
Add the Kids social media ban to the Misinformation Bill and it is massive overreach by the government especially when the experts say the Kids social media ban will make the problem worse, not better. And the biggest promoters of misinformation are politicians and the old media, not new media and social media users.
It was a dumb fight for Albanese and Labor to pick a few months out from the federal election which is due by May 2025.

This corrupt government gets worse by the day, we thought the Morrison Government was bad, but these incumbents almost make Morrison look half descent, all Dutton has to do is keep Susan Ley away from the media and Labor will self destruct.
Thank you KCA
We learn daily of the government corruption from people like you
Definitely not from the mainstream media
Excellent reporting, KCA, you must have many in their number of unique news sources and dedicated supporters that exhibit their desire to provide you with their far better judgement, to inform Australia’s citizens of the ill-intending “Federal government joint Lib/Lab party plots against them.”
A lot of people are commenting that this bill is really an underhanded way of introducing a digital ID as over 16s will have to create some form of ID to prove their age. The difficulty with this theory is that not all over 16s use social media and will escape – resulting in a very incomplete data base.
To suggest such a ban will restrict the kids is fanciful. It will prove to be more of a problem to adults than the kids.
The government’s attempt to prevent access to download sites hasn’t exactly been a roaring success and this nonsense will go the same way.
I used to be a “rusted on” Labor supporter but now they occupy last place on my ballot paper – particularly here in Victoria.
Mr M, fully agree with your writing here, so many Labor supporters have taken your option and send their vote elsewhere, so disappointed that we were so relieved to jettison Morrison and his cronies only to now discover Labor are basically mirrored LNP in discuise… next federal election shall be interesting, if voting wasn’t compulsory, very few would bother turning up, now apathy rules supreme.
Good old Albo, still lying and as cagey as ever. Albo and his mob of bandits couldn’t lie straight in bed.
Too good to pass up … a SCRIPT …

Thanks KCA for keeping us informed. Albanese is not the father of all under 16’s.
Parents don’t need him to stick his face into their family life.
Kids will still have access through their parents & others accounts
He would be better off fixing all the real problems in Australia.
I feel another flight coming on, where now Albo?
Looks like Albo’s solution is to take aussie kids out of the frying pan and throw them into the fire.
Agreed. Who would have guessed Labor would be reponsible for this level of corruption and lack of trust. Disappointment doesn’t quite cover it.
