Peter Dutton could lose his own seat as a Community Independent enters the race for Dickson

Peter Dutton is in for the fight of his life to retain his seat of Dickson at the next federal election and you can help get rid of him by reading below and supporting a new Community Independent who has entered the race.

Dickson Decides, who are the organising body behind the Community Independent, have their Candidate Launch on the 27th of January 2025 at the Kakowan Community Centre – Bunya and will name the Community Independent then. (Click here to RSVP and for more details)

Peter Dutton, who has held the seat since 2001, only scraped over the line at the last federal election in 2022 against Labor’s Ali France, who will run again for the third time, against Dutton.

But the Community Independent will put more pressure on Peter Dutton then he has ever had before and easily eat into the 3,363 votes Dutton won by at the 2022 election.

Community Independents are now regarded as a powerful force by most political watchers and that is why the major parties spend a lot of time attacking them. Wikipedia says:

“At the 2022 federal election, teal independents defeated six sitting Liberal MPs; Allegra Spender in Wentworth, Kylea Tink in North Sydney, Zoe Daniel in Goldstein, Monique Ryan in Kooyong, Kate Chaney in Curtin, and Sophie Scamps in Mackellar.

In addition, Zali Steggall, Rebekha Sharkie and Helen Haines were re-elected. Another ten teal lower house candidates were unsuccessful. In the Senate, David Pocock was elected for the ACT, while two others were not.” (Click here to read more)

Zali Steggall beat former Prime Minister Tony Abbott at the 2019 federal election and Monique Ryan beat the then federal treasurer Josh Frydenberg at the 2022 federal election so there is no reason why Peter Dutton can’t be beaten by a community independent.

Independents and minor party’s now hold 18 seats in the lower house and Labor only need to lose 2 seats and we will have a minority government who will rely on the minor parties and/or independents to govern. (Click here to read more)

Update: Below is an interview I recorded with Christina from Dickson Decides:

Let’s look at the 2022 results for Peter Dutton’s seat of Dickson

Women’s Agenda reported in July 2024:

“In the 2022 federal election, France secured 31.7 per cent of first preference vote, reflecting a 0.4 per cent swing in her favour. Dutton won 42.1 per cent of first preferences, a 3.9 per cent swing vote against him. After preferences, Dutton won the seat with 51.7 per cent of the final count.” (Click here to read more)

Peter Dutton Dickson 2022 - 1

Peter Dutton Dickson 2022 - 2

My guess is if the Dickson Votes Community Independent can get 20,000 votes they will be a big chance of winning with preferences.

I think if Ali France was ever going to win the seat she would have won in the last 2 elections she ran.

But in saying that if the Community Independent doesn’t win then Ali France would have to be a bigger show than the past 2 elections to get over the line with preferences.

I don’t support Labor nor Ali France but if she is elected at least she is getting rid of Peter Dutton which is a good thing.

Peter Dutton’s past in politics should have ended his career

The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) should have ended Peter Dutton’s career in politics given the massive fraud that happened on his watch especially when he was Home Affairs Minister. But the NACC has failed its duty so the voters should step up and vote him out.

Stop saying there is nothing we can do to stop the Labor-Liberal Party Duopoly / UniParty

As you can see above, at the 2022 federal election community independents grew by 6 and if they grow by another 6 at the 2025 federal election then whoever wins between Labor and the coalition will have to rely on Independents and/or the minor parties to govern. That is where we need to head to start putting a stop to the widespread corruption in federal government.

I understand there will be at least 30 community independents at the 2025 federal election, there will be many more independents and numerous minor parties to vote for and most polls are predicting a hung parliament. So, we aren’t stuck with the duopoly / UniParty as some say.

The federal election is due to be held in a few months by May 2025 at the latest but could be held as early as March or April.

  1. Dutton has had a particularly undistinguished political career. I grant that he’s very shrewd but that is about his only political redeeming feature. From what I’ve read about his tenure, his inclination to crookedness seems all-consuming. I won’t be sorry to see him booted out.

  2. It’s a very poor reflection on the voters of Dickson that Hon P. Dutton has been elected at any election considering his past performances since first being elected, maybe there are those who want a nuclear plant and waste dump in their very electorate, if that’s what they want nearby then vote for him again!

  3. Duttons seat of Dickson borders the seat where Yolanda Borucki worked as a childcare worker. Mr Dutton has not mentioned the abuse our Judicial Structure is metting out against the people who care about our community. Let us hope an independent speaks up and this wiil get Dutton and the Labor croney out of parliament.

The safety of our children when in the care of others requires the greatest degree of trust one person has in the institutions which make up the world we live in.
The way Yolanda Borucki has been treated by the institutions whom which we rely upon to form the foundations of trust are now exposed as corrupt.
The Institutions being, The Queensland Police Force, The Judicial Structure and the Uniting Church, Australia`s third largest Christian church. If we cannot trust these institutions we have to question, who can we trust?
We have laws which make it mandatory to report incidences of child sexual abuse which occur within our educational system.
Yolanda Borucki did what any person with a conscience would do and yet the Institutions responsible for addressing her concerns went ahead and attacked her.
This act by those institutions will inevitably present a red flag to anyone else who is presented with a similar situation and could well lead to silence.
The damaging consequences of that silence ingrained within the Australian psyche, as exposed by the Royal Commission into institutional child sexual abuse, must never be allowed to return.
Where were the people with the power to intervene? The Attorney Generals, the senior members of our Judiciary, the heads of our educational institutions, have all remained silent.
Are we a nation captured by the myopia of the three wise monkeys. See no Evil, Hear no Evil, Speak no Evil, while we allow the fourth invisible wise monkey to create evil right in front of our very noses.
Please let us come together to ensure we are rid of this culture and our families and communities are respected within the fabric of this nation’s laws.

  4. The highway robbery our politicians inflict on us is repugnant.
Albo with all his million dollar mansions, he has got with OUR money. Not because he worked hard like we have to .. he knows every cent we earn, it’s time they all show transparency to us.
To buy all these properties, land etc proves they get too much of our money.
WE OWN every investment they have all grabbed.
OUR MONEY 💰 .. why cant we afford an even small house while they don’t accept anything less than a $4mil. Investment, again, OUR MONEY.
Thousands of dollar dinners, we scrape by with baked beans on toast, if we can afford bread.
It’s time to expose their money. The same as us. They obviously get paid way too much, and us, way too little. Why can’t we hold them to account like they hold us?

  5. The Liberals under Dutton are hypocrites. They were against any form of Digital ID or biometrics, yet they were quite willing to vote to block under 16s from accessing social media, denying them the chance to communicate with their friends on X or Facebook and express their opinion on government policies. By teaming up, they had given the public just 24 hours to make worthless submissions that had been ignored.
Menzies would be rolling around in his grave if he found out that they broke their own core beliefs. Like many on here, I hope Dutton loses his seat.

The UniParty knows that independents and minor parties are a threat to their existence. They are finding some way to rig the elections by putting a limit on donations except for them, sending us back 40 years. Labor tried to pull the same stunt when Gillard was in power, but the Liberals wouldn’t have a bar of it. They will try to re-introduce their own policies again, and again, and again until things change. Before the election, Albanese promised us that he would be a compassionate government, restore trust in the bureaucracy, and increase protection for whistleblowers. Those words meant nothing.

However, I always blame voters who believe the spin coming out of the UniParty. It is why we have crippled Internet connections and why housing/rent affordability to dead. I really feel for my nieces and nephew who may not have the chance to move out of their own home due to their parents’ stupidity.

    • Totally agree Glenn. I always blame the voters. Without their votes we wouldn’t have been saddled with such low grade, corrupt politicians, for decades, as we have. It’s not as though there’s nobody better.

      • Its mnot only the VOTE but for each citizen of Australia to BE ACTIVE within their communities and their politicaal parties or form a new party or becoime iundependents.

I was raised with the awareness of being active in many ways in my community and yet the apathjy of the public to not even discuss politics or community concerns let alone be ACTIVE in their communities and the commjunity of Australia was very disappointing and eventually after childhood involvement and 50 odd yeasr of more than doing “my bit” I became further disgusted with migrants who simpoly took and further expected their beliefs and ways should prevail and their and did not contribute in positive ways to Australia.

Thank you for all your efforts Shane.

  6. I’ve known Ali France for decades and I can assure people she is not a Labor hack but a community focused individual. Her father, Peter Lawlor, was the only Labor politician elected on the Gold Coast and he was elected because of his community focus. Ali was a young mother when a car mounted the footpath and pinned her against a shopfront. She saved her baby rather than herself. Since then she has battled for the disabled, even to the extent of forming a Labor party unit specifically for people with disabilities. Unfortunately she has been against significant financial resources in the Dutton camp including significant born again Christian groups who have lobbied for Dutton. We can but hope that it is not Dutton who wins.

    • If the Labor Party tell Ali France how to vote in parliament will she do as she is told like they all do? If the answer is yes, then she is a Labor hack like they all are.

      • With the Federal Election approaching, it’s time to highlight the inherent unfairness in election funding. If Australians are called to compulsory voting, the full costs of holding those elections must be to government account, the taxpayers. Every so often our Lame Duck Federal Electoral Commission is stirred to alter the restrictions on gifts and donations to Parties and individual candidates. The Australian Constitution makes a feeble attempt at placing financing restrictions on these candidates, even going so far as to penalize the most unsuccessful candidates (they lose their deposit).
Provided a candidate in an electorate meets the Constitutional requirements of candidature, (s)he should in all fairness, be permitted access to, and retention of, the same election funding as any other candidate in any other Federal electorate. All political election “donations” would be held in escrow by the Federal Electoral Commission until required. The FEC would set uniform expenditure limits on every candidate, ensuring all meet identical criteria. Any Candidate or political Party ignoring, rorting or subverting the expenditure limits losing the rights to any reimbursement and to stand in the current Election.

  7. With leaders like Dutton, we are headed down the American path if we vote for party first. An Independent, just learning the ropes, is far less dangerous than a party stooge who stands, nodding, behind the masterminds.

  8. After everything Dutton has said and the damage he has done to Australia (and promises to do far, far into the future) with his apology walk out, detention illegality, rorts, 82 million donation to criminals, spearheading the misinformation of the NO campaign, divisive political culture wars almost weekly, the choice should be simple to have him booted like so many other failed Murdoch rorters were at last election. The focus then moves logically to his policy platforms, and, as he has none, no sane Australian should then consider him for any leadership role other than leading the pack back to the NACC for his paladin criminality.
