Acting National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) Commissioner Kylie Kilgour is in the box seat to become the Commissioner full-time which is quite disturbing given her performance before a Parliament hearing in the below video and her history of sweeping the Robodebt crimes under the carpet.

Given Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has a recent history of captains’ picks, Kylie Kilgour’s links, via her husband, to the Labor Party should also help her potentially land the role of Commissioner. But more on that in a minute.

The below video is from The Parliamentary Joint Committee on the National Anti-Corruption Commission, who had a hearing last Friday (18/9/26), and the first time Acting Commissioner Kylie Kilgour was questioned by politicians in a parliament hearing.

As you will see, Kylie Kilgour’s performance was about a 3 out of 10 at best. She is clearly not fit to be the Commissioner, nor is she fit to be a Deputy Commissioner.

The NACC showed up to the parliament hearing with an Acting Commissioner, an Acting CEO and 2 Acting Deputy Commissioners. The NACC’s budget is $60 million a year, and it is a national embarrassment.

The below video goes for 47 minutes but is well worth watching, as you can see for yourself why there is so much government corruption and the NACC is a deliberate failure by the government.

The NACC has had only 3 prosecutions in just over 3 years by the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions, and Kylie Kilgour could only name one.

Two of Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s recent captain’s picks have been former Liberal Party leader Sussan Ley to the Snowy Hydro board last week, which stands out as solely a political decision to undermine the Liberal Party with no other benefit.

And secondly, Albanese has appointed former News Corp executive and right-hand to Lachlan Murdoch, Siobhan McKenna, to be Australia’s next consul general to New York.

The Guardian reported:

Peter Cox, a veteran media analyst, says the choice is about as far from appointing a traditional Labor stalwart as possible.

“The appointment of Lachlan’s ‘right-hand person’ will come as a surprise to many, but it would not have been made unless there’s a good relationship there with the government,” says Cox.

While McKenna is best known for her long association with News Corp, Labor governments have previously elevated her into politically sensitive roles, which included chairing the national broadband enterprise, NBN Co, and currently Australia Post. (Click here to read more)

Stephen Mayne has pointed out that Siobhan McKenna, “Has zero diplomatic or offshore experience” and “was appointed because of her connections, primarily to the Murdochs.”

The only benefit of appointing Siobhan McKenna seems to be for PM Albanese to grovel to the Murdochs again.

Labor Party / Julia Gillard links

It says about Kylie Kilgour on the NACC website:

Ms Kylie Kilgour is Acting Commissioner of the National Anti-Corruption Commission from 6 July 2026 to 5 October 2026 inclusive.

Prior to her appointment as a Deputy Commissioner of the NACC, Ms Kilgour was a Deputy Commissioner of the Victorian Independent Broad-Based Anti-Corruption Commission. She was the Chief Executive Officer of the Royal Commission into the Management of Police Informants, a Deputy Secretary in the Victorian Department of Justice and Community Safety, a legal aid policy adviser in the United Kingdom and a community legal centre lawyer in New South Wales. 

Ms Kilgour has a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Laws from the University of New South Wales and was admitted as a legal practitioner in 2001. She is also a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Ms Kilgour’s substantive term of appointment as a Deputy Commissioner of the NACC is for five years. What the NACC website doesn’t say is Kylie Kilgour is married to Tom Bentley who is well-known for his extensive background in Australian politics, previously serving as a long-time deputy chief of staff to former Prime Minister Julia Gillard between 2007 and 2013.

One certainty is that Kylie Kilgour’s husband Tom Bentley knows Prime Minister Anthony Albanese extremely well from the daily strategy meetings when Julia Gillard was Prime Minister and has known him for almost 20 years.

Have another look at Kylie Kilgour’s public service roles under Labor governments in Victoria and now federally, and then consider what role her husband and his political links might have had in her getting those roles.

Watching Kylie Kilgour in the above video, it is clear that she is not competent, and her connections are how she gained the $627,700 NACC Deputy Commissioner role and her current $817,322 Acting Commissioner role.

The bottom line is Prime Minister Anthony Albanese wants to appoint someone as NACC Commissioner who will continue to cover up government corruption, and Kylie Kilgour has proved herself to be the perfect candidate.
