Rupert Murdoch is now a shadow director of the ABC, and has been for quite a while, with the proof being his propagandists are on most, if not all, ABC news and current affairs shows pushing his lies for his own financial benefit.
What it means for the Australian democracy is that we will be hearing more Murdoch lies and more Murdoch propaganda when we turn on ABC TV and ABC radio. And Murdoch’s agenda is helping the rich get richer and the poor get the picture.
If anyone thinks the new ABC Chairperson Kim Williams will change anything you will be sadly mistaken. Williams was a long-term Murdoch employee. Kim Williams headed Murdoch’s Fox Studios from 1995 until 2001 and then Murdoch’s Foxtel from 2001 until 2011. From 2011 until 2013 Williams was CEO of Murdoch’s News Corp.
In March 2024 Kim Williams took over as Chairperson of the ABC. Rupert Murdoch and Lachlan Murdoch are obviously very happy with the appointment because if they weren’t they would have set their media attack dogs on Kim Williams and the Labor government for appointing Williams as ABC Chair.
But the Murdoch attack dogs have been fairly silent and if anything have supported the appointment with Andrew Blot saying “Sky News host Andrew Bolt says the “paranoid left” who are worried about former News Limited Chief Executive Kim Williams being appointed as ABC Chairman “can relax” because he is “of the cultural left”.” (Click here to read more)
But why would the Murdoch’s complain when they have their propogandists riddled throughout the ABC as per the video below which is News Corp’s Rachel Baxendale on the ABC’s Breakfast News show (9th of April 2024) promoting propaganda by News Corp’s Simon Benson.
So let’s have a quick look at News Corp’s Rachel Baxendale’s and Simon Benson’s connections to the Liberal Party and National Party which the hosts of the ABC Breakfast News don’t declare to their audience.
News Corp’s Rachel Baxendale’s sister, Helen Baxendale, was formerly a staffer for former federal Liberal Party MP Christopher Pyne and is a former girlfriend of former Victorian Liberal MP Tim Smith.
Simon Benson, who is now the political editor at News Corp’s The Australian, used his position in 2007 at News Corp’s The Daily Telegraph to defame Scott Morrison’s competitor, Michael Towke, for Liberal Party preselection for the seat of Cook in Sydney. News Corp paid Towke $50,000 for defamation in 2009.
Simon Benson also co-authored, with Geoff Chambers, a book about former Prime Minister Scott Morrison titled “Plagued: Australia’s two years of hell“. In the book it has leaked cabinet secrets which were given to Benson and Chambers by Scott Morrison.
Simon Benson is currently in a relationship with National Party Senator Bridget McKenzie and has been for a while. In summary so far, in the first video above which is the ABC’s Breakfast News show on the 9th of April 2024 you have News Corp’s Rachel Baxendale, whose sister has very strong Liberal Party connections, promoting News Corp’s Simon Benson who has even stronger Liberal Party and National Party connections.
But the average viewer would know none of it as the ABC hosts don’t tell the viewers the conflicts of interests that both Rachel Baxendale and Simon Benson have. And as anyone who knows their work, they both push the Murdoch propaganda hard.
Kim Williams has been Chairperson of the ABC for over a month, and nothing has changed as the first video above proves in relation to the ABC promoting Murdoch propaganda. People might say Kim Williams needs more time, but the problem has been known for a long time and Williams shows no signs of changing anything except for maybe imbedding the ABC deeper in Murdoch’s pocket.
On the 27th of September 2023, the day after Victorian Premier Dan Andrews resigned, which would have been a huge news day for the media in Victoria the ABC Breakfast News show platformed Rachel Baxendale to give her opinion of Danial Andrews and some other guy, who I assume was from News Corp, who promoted News Corp’s The Herald Sun newspaper.
The above videos of the ABC Breakfast News show are the ABC running free advertising for Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp and helping push Murdoch’s propaganda and lies. The free advertising would be worth tens, if not hundreds, of $millions if News Corp had to pay for it but of course the Murdoch’s get it for free.
Above is just a couple of examples of the ABC being hijacked by Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp and with Rupert Murdoch now essentially being a shadow director of the ABC. Almost all the ABC ‘s news and currents affairs shows have been taken over with Murdoch puppets such as the ABC’S QandA show, Insiders and ABC radio etc.
And the ABC management wonder why the ratings for QandA, Insiders and ABC radio are dropping and they have a credibility problem. Actually, they know why, they just don’t care.

But there is a big difference between a global media company, News Corp, getting $millions of free advertising and pushing propaganda on Australia’s nation broadcaster and an independent journalist getting a plug on community radio.

While I totally agree that the ABC has become a shadow of the balanced news service it used to be, I believe its membership of the TNI is what is the most damning. I have no idea how that ties in with the Murdoch narrative but no doubt it does.
Just need to watch ABC Insiders Show 21 April 2024, similar to Fox, usual Murdoch hacks and special appearance of Dutton, Guardian AU’s rep only independent on the show, ABCs usual leanings away from independence aiming towards Murdochism..

I also lament the demise of the ABC’s The Drum, apart from the odd right wing nut job it had a great variety of people speaking intelligently about mostly relevant topics and without bullshit rhetoric and nasty misinformation.
The departure of Mr. David Cassidy was the demise of Insiders.
The departure of Mr. Kerry O’Brien was demise of 7.30.
The departure of Ms Emma Albrieche was demise of late night ABC.

As a former avid and dedicated watcher and supporter of the once great and informative ABC , I like many others have turned off and get my news and information from selected online sites instead the commercial channels and the the ABC are losing viewers and revenue and free to aid will disappear as no ad alternatives take over , foxtel is also on the downhill run as it consists of endless repeats of old shows flooded with brainwashing commercials and as people refuse to pay their ever rising subscription cost will did the same death , speaking of death the death of Murdocb will be not only be welcome event but a cleansing one world wide

This goes back to Howard killing ABC International broadcasts & giving the old cyborg reptilian from New York some $30m to broadcast in its place! Having been posted to Asia for over a decade, I know ABCInt’l was great and a thorn in Murdoch’s side. People were watching it’s reliable programing and news, not subscribing to Murdoch’s Star TV out of Hong Kong. People I know learnt English via ABC Int’l TV & radio Australia! This was the start of real decline in Australia’s respected image throughout Asia & the Pacific.
The next culprite has to be Malcolm Turnbull. He, as Abbott’s Comms Minister, directed the ABC to source its wire services soley from Murdoch’s Newswire propaganda feed. That’s where ‘our’ ABC really started going down hill in the eyes & ears of we who had relied on it over decades, for reliable unbiased reporting. A fair degree of hipocricy nowadays with Malcolm calling for a Royal Comission into Murdoch!
The aburdity of early morning news on 702 or 630 crossing for headlines from the papers, starting with the Daily Telectrap or Australian says it all. Only bettered by their ring master David, Spiers, ‘Magnus Interuptus’, circled by the worst of Murdoch’s minions on ‘Insiders’.
Have you heard the likes of Sarah Ferguson disrespectfully refering to the PM as just ‘Albanese’, even to his face. That should never happen by a public broadcaster, before Murdoch’s infiltration.
NINE, especially its disgraceful 2GB, hiponcritically railing against X this week are every bit as bad. They tell us what to think, not what we need to know.
It is fair to say there is not a single unbiased commercial media offering left in Australia. Next time you hear a right wing commentator say “They don’t have to listen to us. If they don’t like it they change stations to one of the left wing broadcasters!”, ring up and ask him to nominate one.
The Labor Party is stupid and gutless. Pandering to Rupert the Reptile is like letting child have a oer crocodile. We should be having that that Royal Comission into concentration and bias in Australia’s media. We’ve recently seen Casinos shaken up by inquiries ito their licences. How is it possible media links cences get reissued in Australia? There is plenty of evidence the holders are not “Fit and Proper” people to hold them.
Simply disgusted, angry & confused how labour let this happen.. l loved Q&A for its cross section of guests & truth telling by most, now it will be tarnished with bullshit like other commercial channels..
