Peter Dutton will lose his seat of Dickson with a new poll finding Labor’s Ali France is ahead of Peter Dutton by 52-48 on a two-party preferred basis.
And the Labor Party have their own polling, which they claim shows they are in with a chance of winning, that has motivated them to spend another $130,000 in Dutton’s seat of Dickson.
The first poll was reported by The New Daily (12/4/25) and says:
The Liberal leader who is vying to be the next Australian prime minister won by just 3363 votes in 2022.
A new survey of 854 voters, conducted by UComms for the Queensland Conservation Council, showed Labor’s candidate Ali France tracking ahead of Dutton.
Voters favoured France over Dutton by 52-48 on a two-party preferred basis, the poll found.
Undecided voters were asked which candidate they had “even a slight leading” towards — with 23 per cent favouring France over Dutton’s 17 per cent.
The Coalition’s nuclear energy policy appeared particularly unpopular with Dickson voters, according to the findings. (Click here to read more)
People will question the poll given it was conducted by UComms on behalf of the Queensland Conservation Council who are anti-nuclear.
But the poll findings are consistent with Peter Dutton’s recent $40,000 splurge attacking Community Independent Ellie Smith as per the below video.
I doubt Ellie Smith’s name appeared in either poll as an option for voters, but she has obviously got Dutton worried and as I say in the video I am sure the Liberals also did their own polling before they spent the $40,000.

The poll is also consistent with Liberal Party insiders leaking against Dutton with leaks generally happening when people know they are on a sinking ship and now the dam has cracked I doubt the leak will be the last.

It’s the question just about everyone was asking on Friday night after Anthony Albanese phoned into ABC radio to torpedo Peter Dutton’s announcement on getting the Port of Darwin out of Chinese hands.
Who had leaked to the Labor campaign that Dutton was on his way to Darwin to announce that he would force China-based company Landbridge to sell the city’s port? Was it a journalist travelling on the Dutton campaign who had the embargoed announcement, or was it a rat in the ranks?
According to veteran political commentator Niki Savva on Insiders yesterday, the leak came straight from Liberal HQ to the Labor camp. If this is the case, the Liberals have a significant problem.
But senior Liberals dispute this, saying they know exactly which journalist gave Labor the inside scoop ahead of time. (Click here to read more)
The problem with the Liberals claiming the leaker was a journalist, and they know who it is, then why won’t they name the journalist? It’s a Liberal lie I suspect to cover-up the obvious massive crack in the Liberal Party’s unity.
The Labor Party’s own polling
The Labor party claim their own polling says Peter Dutton is in trouble, “Labor will pour an additional $130,000 to campaign in Peter Dutton’s own electorate of Dickson, after new internal research found the Brisbane electorate is “closer than originally thought”.” (Click here to read more)
The polling pointing to Dutton losing his seat is also consistent with all the negative reporting about Dutton over the last few weeks regarding his campaign mistakes which would have an impact on voters so it’s no surprise Dutton is dropping in the polls.
The SMH reported (12/4/25):
In quiet corners of the Coalition, discussion has turned instead to whether tension between the leader’s office and campaign headquarters has contributed to Dutton’s haphazard start to the campaign.
In week one, Dutton suggested he’d prefer to live in Kirribilli rather than The Lodge, surprised Liberal campaign headquarters and senior Coalition ministers with his short-lived concept of holding various referenda, and struggled to explain his plan to slash public servants’ jobs.
Many of Dutton’s colleagues think week two went better. That’s despite Dutton dumping a candidate on Sunday, backing down from his work from home edict for public servants on Monday, and losing his first debate against Anthony Albanese on Tuesday, according to the audience. In summary, there is polling conducted by UComms for the Queensland Conservation Council and polling by Labor pointing to Dutton being in trouble in his seat of Dickson and almost certainly polling by the Liberals saying the same.
Based on 3 separate polls, Peter Dutton is in trouble retaining his own seat and could be gone in 3 weeks after the election.

The political landscape is almost certain to be substantially different after the federal election, with a minority government in the lower house, to match the minority government we have in the senate, and it will be a good thing as voters slowing but surely start to take back control of the government.

Dutton losing his seat would be great for Australia.
Maybe he can later get some promo work with Tony Galati
It would be a fantastic result if Dutton does a Howard (lose the election and his seat).
That will be a kind of Trifecta for the Conservatives…
In 1929 Stanley Bruce became the first PM to lose his seat in the HoR while PM, Bruce’s Nationalist Party was in government in coalition with the Country Party, but they lost to a Labor opposition led by James Scullin.
In 2007 John Howard became the second PM to lose their seat while serving as PM in 2007, in losing the Federal Election to a Labor opposition led by Kevin Rudd.
In 2025 we can but hope that Dutton, though not PM but Leader of the Opposition, will also lose his seat in the HoR!

I see no benefits coming to the Australian people, if perchance Dutton could possibly gain the essential votes to continue his proposal.
Which is to retain his hatred against the Australian people.
Both major parties have shown they are on a par.
Complete change is what Australia needs.
This lack of Leadership and quality politicians has been a slow steady planned downhill event. And those politicians who are quality well intentioned representatives of the people in Parliament / I am not referring to nor blaming you.
Both party’s are the same, we hear this a lot for some bizarre reason?
While we all try and think, have there actually been any Albanese Govt scandals.
Meanwhile here’s a list of just a few of the previous LNP Govt’s “BACK ON TRACK” catastrophes, the media refuse to mention and should be detailing for all voters to be reminded of prior to voting. Many of those responsible along with Dutton are sitting on the opposition front bench and will be if elected on the Govt front bench doing all this all over again? Perhaps the media could detail each one, in the coming days as we head toward pre polling opening? And if not, why not, this is the LNP Coalition record in Govt! Tweed, you have outed yourself as a Labor Party troll because you have a long list there but what you don’t say is that Labor helped the Liberals / Nationals cover-up all that corruption with the fake National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) that Labor set up.
Don`t think the major parties corruption is a recent development. I can go back half a century when we were exposing the corruption in the legal profession and the Supreme Courts across Australia. Both leading parties shut down any investigation into the scams that were running at the time. Successive governments went on their merry ways twisting and turning to dodge accountability.Taking the high moral road is part and parcel of how politicians dodge their past, and Aussies fall for it every election.

If Peter Dutton loses his seat, I suggest we declare a national public holiday: “Dickson Liberation Day.” School kids can reenact dramatic scenes of Dutton packing up his office to the sound of violin music and a slow clap from the electorate.
Imagine spending $40,000 to attack a community independent, only to be politically pantsed by Ali France and a bunch of locals with clipboards. Priceless.
And those Liberal HQ leaks? When your own team starts dropping spoilers before your big Darwin moment, it’s not “campaign strategy” — it’s Survivor: Canberra edition, and Dutton’s been voted off the island.
Even the ghosts of past Prime Ministers — Bruce and Howard — are probably texting each other, “Mate, scoot over on the historical bench. Dutto’s joining the ‘Oops, lost my seat’ club.”
Honestly, if this keeps up, Peter might want to update his résumé. Bunnings is always hiring, and he’s already great at scaring people into aisle 89.
why on earth would you even consider nuclear power in Australia, its too expensive and not the road we need to drive down, minor parties are growing bigger each election, its very hard to see the difference between the two major parties. Anyways we do need to vote for independents to keep them from making silly foolish moves in politics but we need to also do our homework and put the right independents in power and not just do a protest greens vote like we used to do, its time to elect folk that actually care about Aussies and our countries future, we don’t need any trump figures down under
where is Dutton going to set up his nuclear power plants? in what states? where is all the nuclear waste going to be stored? in what state? Dutton will loose this election because of his nuclear plan alone
