Federal Labor Party MP Clare O’Neil attacked Pauline Hanson’s One Nation Party to defend the Liberal Party in a recent interview, as per the below video, which confirms the existence of the UniParty and duopoly between the Liberal and Labor Parties.
It also shows the fast-changing landscape of Australian politics, where the biggest enemy of the Labor Party and Liberal Party is not each other, as it has been for decades, but is now the One Nation Party. Or at least that is how Labor and Liberal parties see it.
Claire O’Neil, who has been the federal Minister for Housing and Minister for Homelessness since July 2024, was recently interviewed on Sky News, and a Labor Party supporter recorded the below excerpt and published it on “X”, thinking it showed how well O’Neil demolished Angus Taylor and his budget reply.
But what it really shows is Labor’s O’Neil supporting the Liberal Party in their battle with One Nation, which is in effect the UniParty in operation where Labor and the Liberal Party work together to protect their duopoly of taking turns governing Australia.
O’Neil says in the video, “The opposition is in a death spiral” and “it is completely focused on trying to manage the political risk of One Nation.”
But seconds later O’Neil tries “to manage the political risk of One Nation” and says:
“I actually want the Liberal Party to be a functioning political outfit” and “Their disintegration is creating space for One Nation” and “A political party principally about dividing Australians against each other” “And I really hope they get it together”
Given One Nation’s and the Liberal Party’s policies are now almost identical, how can Claire O’Neil say One Nation are “about dividing Australians against each other” and not say the exact same about the Liberal Party?
And given their policies are almost the same, why does Clair O’Neil support the Liberal Party over One Nation?
Because Claire O’Neil is supporting the Labor / Liberal UniParty and duopoly.
There was a time not long ago when the Labor Party would be focused on trying to get some of the swing voters off the Liberal and National Parties.
But now the Labor Party seem resigned to the fact they can’t get any swinging voters back, and they are just trying to make sure the coalition voters don’t go to One Nation and upset the UniParty / duopoly deal.
The Labor Party are just starting the second year of their second 3-year term and should be shouting about how well they have done trying to attract the Liberal and National Party voters who are jumping ship to One Nation to vote Labor instead.
But Labor has given up and is battening down the hatches for the storm they know is coming their way.
The recent budget changes might win Labor some votes but could also lose them votes. It’s too early to tell. But it’s not enough.
Labor could do more things like fixing the fake NACC with a real NACC and cancelling the $368 billion AUKUS fraud scam, which would gain them a lot of votes. But no, Labor would rather go down with the leaking ship they built.
I also published a video version of the above article as per below:
I vote independent, and I am no fan of One Nation. But I find it disgusting when corrupt politicians want the public to fear one political party to protect their own position.
If The Greens, Community Independents or another minor party starts rising in the polls or wins more seats, the likes of Claire O’Neil will start attacking them as well to protect the Labor and Liberal UniParty and duopoly.
Announcement: I am starting a new video podcast which I will publish on the Kangaroo Court of Australia YouTube channel starting next Monday afternoon (25/5/26). I’ll have more details in Sunday’s article.
Admin: Twenty-five weeks ago, I launched a campaign with a simple goal: find 200 new monthly supporters so I can keep doing this work as a fully independent journalist, running this website and the YouTube channel without corporate backing or paywalls.
Since then, 172 wonderful people have stepped up and become monthly supporters. That’s huge, thank you!
We’re now at 28 to go.
If you’ve been enjoying the work and aren’t yet supporting monthly, I’d be incredibly grateful if you’d consider joining them. Here’s the situation:
Like most independent journalists, I’m basically a one-person small business. Right now, a lot of us are feeling the squeeze, just like many small businesses and households are. To stay afloat and keep bringing you the reporting I do, I need roughly 200 more people chipping in whatever they can comfortably afford each month.
Anything from $3 to $100 (or whatever works for your budget) makes a real difference. There’s no lock-in, you can cancel or adjust anytime.
If that feels doable for you right now, you can see all the options on the donations page by clicking here.
Your support, whether it’s a monthly donation, a one-time donation, or just sharing the work, is what keeps independent voices like this one alive.
Please use Facebook, “X”, email and the other buttons below and help promote this article.
Kangaroo Court of Australia is independent media and is 100% crowdfunded by readers like yourself so please support on the links below. Click on the PayPal button below to donate or for other donation options click here to go to the Donations page.

I have long been an opponent of the Duopoly, it is very disappointing the amount of people that have brought in to the One Nation propaganda. I now answer them with “Check out the website, whoishanson.com and tell me she’s for the little people, the Aussie Battler.
Hanson says one thing but is on record for voting for the interests of big business & mining.
True Independent Candidates is the only way to vote. The argument is put that they can’t win so your vote is wasted. Thing is if everyone thinks that then we will never get change.
Birds of a feather f*ock together. In return, the Libs can reciprocate by helping Labor to demonize the dreaded Greens.
Very interesting article.
Whatever one’s political view, history shows that powerful duopolies and highly concentrated sectors can have serious detrimental effects on ordinary Australians.
Common concerns include higher prices, reduced competition, fewer choices, barriers for smaller competitors, and growing influence over markets and policy settings — with the financial burden often landing on households.
Some of Australia’s most significant duopolies or near-duopolies have included:
Coles – Woolworths (groceries)
Big Four banking dominance
AGL – Origin (energy)
Telstra – Optus (telecommunications)
REA – Domain (property listings)
Labor – Liberal/National two-party dominance
News Corp – Fairfax/Nine (media)
Qantas – Virgin (aviation)
Endeavour – Coles Liquor
Foxtel / major sports broadcasting concentration
There have been many many more over the history of this nation
Whether commercial or political, concentrated power deserves scrutiny because Australians ultimately pay the price when competition, accountability and genuine alternatives weaken.
And perhaps the most uncomfortable truth is how easily Australians continue to absorb and normalise these structures, despite the clear signs of concentrated market power and the limited effectiveness of regulatory oversight.
Hanson is nothing more than a billionaire cartel bankrolled MAGA like saturation media campaign construct to suck in the politically ignorant. There’s absolutely nothing there its laughable and it will inevitably collapse into a pile of infighting crap as it always has these last 30 years of Hanson grifting off tax payers. Hansons only purpose is obstruction of renewables in the Senate for the billionaire cartel coal mining vested interests. Keep the country in chaos, divided with the usual race baiting and anti immigration. Here’s a plane and 2 million dollars pauline, now do what the cartel demand or we will get another bunny to do it? The LNP floundered long ago they’re hopeless, a complete lost cause. Meanwhile Labor is getting the job done, while being relentlessly attacked by a cashed up completely corrupted cartel bankrolled media. Just ask yourselves, are you on the side of these wealthy 11% with CGT, NG and family trusts paying zero tax or with yourself and the other 89% busting their arses paying 29% of every dollar earned. Thats what this debate is really about, the rest is just billionaire millionaire bankrolled white noise.
The Greens? The corrupted billionaire bankrolled media don’t even permit the Greens to even be acknowledged, period, look at their election polling it’s collapsed?
Why would Labor be panicking over one Nation when they have Minns firstly acting as Chief of Israel and now acting as chief spokesman for tax avoidance and the rich. What an awful specimen he is but not alone among Labor ranks
What Uniparty ?
No such thing – competition for leadership is not just fierce, it’s at insane levels. You cannot trust anyone in your own party not to have a hidden agenda or secret alliances – the ‘enemy’ (being the other party) is usually within and not whom you think it is. Maybe if 1984 ever comes fully true, but personal ambition is too strong for there to be a Uniparty. The majors will combine to put ON last, except for Angus who has no political acumen at all. Hastie will roll him when Hastie is ready.
Labor has lost the plot, One Nation is FASCIST, the Libs are irrelevant
Vote Greens 💚💚💚
“And given their policies are almost the same, why does Clair O’Neil support the Liberal Party over One Nation?”
Because Liberal policy doesn’t appeal to traditional Labor voters, but One Nation policy does.
One Nation policy also appeals to enough Greens voters to put Labor marginals at risk.
Redbridge polling shows ON winning 59 seats at an election held now.
Liberals and Nationals only hold 41 now, so those other18 seats must be Labor losses even if the coalition wins 0.
Hanson talking up a Sovereign Wealth Fund, but shot herself in the foot by saying on Sky it would be used to pay down debt. That’s just nuts, and a continuation of Liberal Thatcherism, a total dead end.
If the Liberals want to run on cleaning up Labors messes thru Austerity, good luck to them, they’ll go nowhere.
Trump’s new Fed Chief is gonna lower interest rates to cause an economic boom, Hanson doesn’t need to get lost in the weeds by talking up paying off debt.
