The Catholic Church’s protection of George Pell is again set to be exposed in the Victorian Supreme Court as the father of a choirboy allegedly sexually abused by Cardinal George Pell has been given the green light to sue the Church after the High Court of Australia refused to hear an appeal by the Church.
It’s a huge win for the little man against the financial might of the Catholic Church and could lead to more lawsuits against the Church.
The Guardian reported on the 8th of February 2024:
Australia’s highest court has rejected the Catholic church’s bid to avoid paying damages to the father of a choirboy allegedly sexually abused by Cardinal George Pell.
The father, who cannot be named, claims he suffered nervous shock after learning of allegations that the cardinal sexually abused his now-deceased son in the mid-1990s.
Cardinal Pell maintained his innocence over the allegations until his death in January 2023, and had five convictions for abusing the man’s son and another boy overturned by the high court in 2020.
The man, known as RWQ for legal reasons, is seeking damages against the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne and Cardinal Pell’s estate in Victoria’s supreme court. (Click here to read more)
For the High Court of Australia to hear an appeal the applicant first has to be granted Special Leave to Appeal and if Special Leave is not granted that means High Court won’t hear your appeal which is what happens in the majority of cases. A Royal Commission found that George Pell was knowingly involved in moving paedophile priests from parish to parish to hide their sexual abuse of children and there are numerous outstanding allegations that Pell himself sexually abused children. (Click here to read more)

George Pell and the Church received a lot of support from Alan Jones, who is currently hiding in England from sexual assault allegations, such as when Jones was on the ABC’s QandA program defending Cardinal George Pell for covering up paedophile abuse in the Catholic Church as per below:

The more media that report the above story the more likely other survivors and their families will come forward and sue the Church and other organisations that covered up for paedophiles. The same names of horrible horrible people reappear time after time to defend these revolting human beings, Murdoch and Co not only defend these pedofile types whilst same time supporting mass murder of Palestinian citizens. Main thing is they’re good Christians.
Knowingly moving paedophile priests around deserved a longer jail sentence but Pell being a paedophile himself is obviously not true. Multiple claims would have been made against him. If there were any victims the public would know.

And appalled it wasn’t by most other media.
I am still dealing with the Catholic Church ( through the Sydney Archdiocese) and they continue to change the rules for how I can receive my trickle of compensation. And to say compassion is lacking, is a huge understatement! I also replied to the the person who said she believes Pell did not sexually assault people himself.
In the case where Pell was found guilty, the most senior QC in Victoria, in his last case FAILED to create the smallest chink in the evidence of the plaintiff. The evidence stood, and the jury accepted it. I have always considered the failure on the part of this QC to destroy the plaintiff’s claims, when on his (the QC’s) home territory, to be the most powerful moment in this whole legal saga.

I as abused by a priest (Brian Cosgrove) over 50 years ago as a child and young adult. The solicitor from a very small company who has represented me knows of at least one other person abused by this priest. I would imagine there could easily be others. This person has not come forward because they did not want their family to know about the abuse.
Therefore, even when I reported the sexual assaults to the police, there was no one to corroborate my experience. The police could not charge the priest with just my evidence.
I can understand this because dealing with the Catholic Church even now, just to get my out-of-pocket therapy costs reimbursed, is ghastly. The Church has changed the rules around this twice to make it more onerous for me. Their lack of compassion and care has been overwhelming.
Of course many people would remain silent when the cost of talking about it is so awful.
The surviving Alter Boy gave evidence against Pell and was believed by the jury. It is unusual for one man’s word against another to be enough to convict. The trial transcript is still kept secret, I have not heard ANY Pell defender call for it to be made public.
Additionally, read the numerous books by Louise Milligan and the church history of their attempts to discredit her excellent investigatory works, including the usual names who attacked her credibility but failed…likes of KCA keep reporting same as Guardian does, but silence from old media ..sad history of Pell goes back decade’s, so many witnesses came forward and were attacked by the church and their gang of expensive lawyers. So many lives ruined, Ballarat possibly the worst which also involved Pell.
Terror is defined as extreme fear.
Fear is defined as an unpleasant emotion caused by the threat of danger, pain, or harm.
A ‘terrorist organisation’ is defined under section 102.1 of the Commonwealth Criminal Code Act 1995 (Criminal Code) as an organisation that:
is directly or indirectly engaged in, preparing, planning, assisting in or fostering the doing of a terrorist act, or
has been ‘listed’ in regulations as a terrorist organisation.
In my honest opinion, do the actions and behaviour discussed and described in this matter not create terror and fear in the minds and bodies of the victims?
Have the victims that have been subjected to this behaviour not been terrorised and made fearful firstly, of the event itself and secondly, of the ongoing persecution by parties defending their members, the perpetrators of these actions and behaviours?
Have lives not been lost?
Have living lives and families not been destroyed?
Have deceitful cover ups not been pursued?
Has the continual relocation of perpetrators not occurred?
Draw your own conclusions but honestly, my personal opinion is that the Catholic Church is a terrorist organisation.
