Alan Jones is hiding in the UK because he won’t back up the legal threats he made against the SMH who recently exposed more of Jones’ alleged sexual assaults of young men.
Jones has concealed sexual assault and paedophile allegations against him for years via legal threats and the protection of Australia’s old media.
The tables have turned to some degree in recent times and Alan Jones is now hiding in the UK with his boyfriend Jake Thrupp so he doesn’t have to follow through with his latest legal threat against the SMH which is owned by Nine Entertainment.
Alan Jones has made too many baseless legal threats the last couple of years, against the SBS and myself (this website), and he has lost the protection of at least one old media company, Nine Entertainment, who were Jones’ previous employer as they own radio station 2GB.
The legal threats against the SBS and myself (this website) showed that Jones will make legal threats but he will crumble if the media company stands their ground and defends the allegations.
That is what happened in my case where Jones paid for his boyfriend Jake Thrupp and his parents to send a lawyer’s letter, from Anthony Jefferies of Gillis Delaney Lawyers, on the 12/2/20 threatening legal action if I did not take down an article titled “Alan Jones is back grooming young male students for his sexual pleasure“.
My response to the legal threat was to publish the lawyers letter in another article on the 18/3/20 titled “Alan Jones’s 22-year-old boyfriend Jake Thrupp sends a legal threat to journalist” and I never heard from Jake Thrupp, his parents or his lawyers again.
In October 2020 when Alan Jones sued the SBS because Jones said the SBS had implied he is a paedophile, racist and liar the SBS filed a truth defence and Jones discontinued his defamation case on the 24th of December 2020.
Jones paid his own legal fees, received no compensation and no apology from the SBS.
Alan Jones used the same lawyer and law firm, Anthony Jefferies of Gillis Delaney Lawyers, to sue the SBS as Jake Thrupp and his parents used to sue me which makes it obvious that Jones was behind the legal threat to myself and this website.
The fact that Jones has a recent history of making legal threats and not following through not only would have given confidence to the SMH’s lawyers that Jones was bluffing but it also shows that Jones is highly unlikely to return from the UK anytime soon as he wants to lay low for the foreseeable future.

On Monday the 15th of January 2024 the SMH reported:
The future of embattled media figure Alan Jones, who has denied indecently assaulting several young men, remains uncertain, with the 82-year-old cancelling his planned return from London.
A source close to Jones, who asked not to be identified, revealed that the broadcaster left for London the week before Christmas. He was due to return to his on-air role on ADH TV (Australian Digital Holdings) at the end of this month.
Jones is being supported in London by ADH’s co-founder Jake Thrupp, 26, who is studying at King’s College London with the financial assistance of his mentor.
The broadcaster has no immediate plans to return to Australia, the source said.
Last month, the SMH revealed allegations that Jones used his position of power as Sydney’s most influential and feared broadcaster to prey on a number of young men, indecently assaulting them, groping or inappropriately touching them without their consent. (Click here to read more)
Fun fact:
Gillis Delaney law partner Anthony Jefferies, who threatened myself and this website on behalf of Jake Thrupp and his parents (paid for by Alan Jones) and who also represented Alan Jones during his aborted claim against the SBS is also a Director of ADH TV which is a new media business that seems to be silently owned and controlled by Alan Jones.

But for some reason Alan Jones used lawyer Mark O’Brien to send a concerns notice to the SMH threatening legal action.
Mark O’Brien Legal are well known for representing Australian celebrities such as Ben Roberts-Smith, Bruce Lehrmann and Craig McLachlan.
So, it’s easy to see why Jones would give his mate Anthony Jefferies the flick and move to Mark O’Brien Legal given their outstanding work driving the reputations of Roberts-Smith, Lehrmann and McLachlan headfirst into the ground. Although to be fair to Mark O’Brien legal, they didn’t have much to work with and nor do they with Alan Jones.
Why would Jones hide in the UK?
Alan Jones has no chance of winning a defamation case against the SMH and if only one of his alleged victims claims were proven to be true Jones could also end up facing criminal charges.
So imagine what would happen if several or all of Alan Jones’ alleged victims had their allegations proven to be true during a defamation case. It would be almost certain that criminal charges against Alan Jones would follow and Jones knows it.
And, as Jones also knows, there are many more victims that have not come forward at this point and a defamation case would attract a lot of publicity which could encourage more victims to come forward. So Jones knows, and would have been advised by his lawyers, the best thing he can do is hide overseas until the story dies out but that could be a few years away if ever.

How many alleged “paedophiles” skip overseas to avoid conviction? Now let me see. There was ……. and ……..etc. Odds are he won’t return in a hurry if at all. All bluster about suing because he knows how he would be scrutinised. Just look at BRS!
Mark Reid for all his faults called it out because he certainly knew what it was and it was a despicable low level bottom feeder.

Wondered how long he could get away with it. The only reason I like Chopper Read is him calling Jones out on Kennerley’s show decades ago. He ruined my NRL team as well. Total piece of crap.
In my honest opinion, this guy Alan Jones is a just a recurring bully and just never stops “belly aching” about something, anything. These continual practices of his, have always switched me off … regardless of the person or topic – pros or cons.
He handed out his bullying and derogative remarks regularly, regardless of the person’s walk of life; a listener, a politician, anybody that “took his fancy”.
Nah, can’t be bothered with this “bloke”. It is sure to catch up with him.
How old is he? I wonder who will front the funeral.
