Peter Dutton colludes with greedy billionaire coal and gas miner Gina Rinehart for the fake “Nuclear policy” scam

Peter Dutton’s nuclear plant announcement is a fake and fraud being orchestrated by greedy billionaires Gina Rinehart and Rupert Murdoch with their fingerprints all over it and has nothing to do with cheaper power prices for the public.

Peter Dutton’s fake “nuclear policy” is about making sure greedy billionaire Gina Rinehart makes as much money as she can from her mining assets by slowing down the transition to renewable energy and she has the support of Rupert Murdoch and others.

One example is that Gina Rinehart’s Hancock Prospecting and Korean energy company Posco own Senex. Senex’s Atlas to Reedy Creek Pipeline in Queensland aims to ‘service’ new coal seam gas projects out to the year 2064. These include the Atlas Coal Seam Gas (CSG) Project and the Atlas Stage 3 Gas Project, as well as ‘future Senex projects and other third-party projects.’ (Click here to read more)

Given Gina Rinehart has budgeted plans for Senex’s gas pipeline to operate until 2064 Rinehart obviously wants to slow down the transition to renewable energy as it makes the Senex’s gas pipeline unprofitable or even redundant.

Tasmania, on the 27th of November 2020, announced they were “100 per cent self-sufficient in renewable energy, confirming our status as a world leader in renewable energy generation.” (Click here to read more)

“Since 2020, 100% of electricity in the ACT has come from renewable sources. The ACT will maintain this from now on. We aim to complete a transition away from the other major source of energy in the ACT – gas, by 2045.” (Click here to read more)

If the rest of Australia follows the lead of Tasmania and the ACT then Gina Rinehart’s extreme wealth would be under threat and she knows it.

The fake nuclear policy is designed to slow down the transition to renewable sources and extend the reliance on coal and gas. For example, The SMH has reported (22/6/24):

The federal Coalition is splintering over support for wind and solar energy under its controversial plan to build seven nuclear power plants across the country, with leading Nationals calling for tougher rules on renewables to prepare the way for the big new power stations.

The dispute highlights a key challenge for Opposition Leader Peter Dutton after he unveiled his nuclear plan, with Liberals insisting they wanted more renewables while the Nationals said the country already had too many wind and solar farms. (Click here to read more)

Promoting Nuclear power and the Liberals and Nationals publicly arguing over whether Australia “already had too many wind and solar farms” is deliberately designed to turn off investors in renewable sources as investors would be unsure what would happen if the coalition wins the next election.

The end result of Peter Dutton’s fake “nuclear policy” is Australia will be reliant on Gina Rinehart’s fossil fuels for many more years whether Australia ever has nuclear power or not, and that was the plan from the start.

Peter Dutton’s links to Gina Rinehart

The short videos and articles below prove the case and are a must read and watch as they show how politicians are being used to lie to the public for the financial benefit of the billionaires. All the videos are short so make sure you watch them as they help tell the story and are powerful evidence proving the scam.

Gina Rinehart

Gina Rinehart is worth an estimated $37 billion which comes from her coal and gas interests. Renewable energies such as solar and wind farms are a threat to her coal and gas mines.

Gina Rinehart receives a lot of support from Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp.

Gina Rinehart started pushing for nuclear power in August 2023 as per below, but lets start with a 4 second video of Peter Dutton from March 2023.

March 2023: PETER DUTTON (The Daily Aus Podcast) – 2/3/23 – “I don’t support the establishment of big nuclear facilities here at all. I’m opposed to it.” as per the below video:

So, in March 2023 Peter Dutton did not “support the establishment of big nuclear facilities here at all.” He was “opposed to it.”. Below we have a look at some of the things that happened between March 2023 and now that would have changed Dutton’s mind.

August 2023 – Daily Telegraph’s bush summit: Peter Dutton took $23k private jet to News Corp event (11/8/23) where he spoke on cost-of-living crisis

Figures reveal that opposition leader travelled at taxpayers’ expense to Tamworth event sponsored by Gina Rinehart’s Hancock Prospecting

The opposition leader, Peter Dutton, used a taxpayer-funded private jet to travel to a News Corp event in Tamworth, claiming $23,000 in travel expenses to speak at the summit where he criticised the government’s response to the cost-of-living crisis.

Despite multiple flight connections daily between Canberra and Tamworth, it is understood Dutton had a pre-existing commitment, meaning no commercial flight could get him to the Daily Telegraph’s annual “bush summit” in August 2023 in time.

Speaking on stage at the bush summit, in front of a large screen noting the event was sponsored by Gina Rinehart’s Hancock Prospecting, Dutton said cost of living was among his main priorities.

Asked about what he saw his role as opposition leader, Dutton listed “holding the government to account” on issues like cost of living. He also criticised the government’s energy policies as “incredibly expensive” and claimed regional and rural Australians were being treated as “second-class citizens”. (Click here to read more)

August 2023 – (14/8/23) Australian Bush summit in Perth: “Gina Rinehart’s bold vision for Australia’s future as she warns the country could face food shortages if nothing is done”

Mining magnate Gina Rinehart has called for a nuclear-powered Australia to replace ‘bird-killing wind generators and massive solar panel stretches’.

The nation’s richest woman demanded the country shift towards a nuclear future when she gave a rare speech at the Australian Bush summit in Perth on Monday.

In a 12-minute blast at government policy, she demanded an end to the red tape tying up farmers and businesses in rural Australia.

But she used her closing remarks about the huge cost for farmers to commit to zero emissions to switch the focus from green renewables to adopting nuclear power.

She warned the consequences of the costly changeover could cause widespread food shortages and retail prices to surge even higher.

‘Let’s not upset many farmers with bird-killing wind-generated generators and massive solar panels stretches,’ she said.

‘Bring on clean, safe nuclear energy please, Australia.’ (Click here to read on Gina’s own website) (Click here to read on The Daily Mail website)

Gina Rinehart accidently forgot to mention that any transition to nuclear power would take decades, if it ever happened at all, and that means she will profit $billions more selling her fossil fuels.

Gina Rinehart at the Australian Bush summit in Perth (14/8/23) in the video below:

October 2023 – On the Gina Rinehart website it says: “Telethon Ball: Generous A-listers come together to raise millions for sick children at annual charity event” (21/10/23). As per the below picture Plutonium Pete was there as well

Just for the record, yes, on Gina Rinehart’s own website she refers to herself, and I assume Peter Dutton, as one of the “Generous A-listers” and she also says, “Australia’s richest person and reigning Western Australian of the Year, Gina Rinehart, was at the ball along with many of the most senior staff from her sprawling empire.” (Click here to read more)

November 2023 – Peter Dutton was flown by a billionaire to Gina Rinehart’s Pilbara party (22/11/23) – where he had a message for parents. Federal opposition leader told audience at Roy Hill mine that parents and teachers should instruct children about benefits of mining. (Click here to read more)

Peter Dutton and Gina Rinehart

February 2024 – The Guardian reported “The opposition leader, Peter Dutton, reportedly flew to Perth for just an hour to attend the 70th birthday party of the mining billionaire Gina Rinehart, flying an overnight round-trip cross-country before returning to Melbourne to campaign on cost-of-living issues ahead of the Dunkley byelection.” (Click here to read more)

As you can see above Peter Dutton went from not supporting nuclear plants in March 2023, to spending a lot of time with Gina Rinehart, and then falling into line with Gina and supporting nuclear plants now. Who benefits? Not the Australian public but Gina does.

June 2024 – Peter Dutton announces the nuclear plant plan and says, “there has been months and months and months of work put into this policy” as per the below video. When asked about the costing in the video he doesn’t answer but instead complains about Labor’s scare campaign but then Dutton uses a scare campaign about “Labor’s 28,000km of poles and wires through national parks and pristine farming land”. Gina’s boy also says it’s not his job “to make rich people richer”.

Tasmania and the ACT are 100% renewable energy (Solar and wind farms) and Peter Dutton’s lies are called out in the below video:

Community independent Zali Steggall makes the point below that Peter Dutton’s proposal is only a 4 and 1/2 page blurb likely  written by a media adviser and there is no actual proposal because it has very little detail:

The chances of Peter Dutton’s nuclear policy ever happening are almost zero but if it did it would not be saving the Australian public any money because it’s about making money for greedy billionaire Gina Rinehart with the support of Rupert Murdoch and others.

It must be remembered that Peter Dutton was up to his neck in corruption when he was Home Affairs minister with $billion grants to dodgy companies such as Paladin and Construct so nothing he says can be trusted and he is happy to help mates with ripping off the government and public.

Australia has real issues and real problems but Peter Dutton and Gina Rinehart are focused on running their fake “nuclear policy” scam to help Gina become even richer.

I’ll keep following up on this issue.

  1. Mr Dutton is just one horrible horrible person, how such a large percentage of the population can believe and support him adds more proof to the theory of Murdoch and Co in their dumbing down of society, while others subscribe to the theory that greed is good, surprisingly a large percentage of those who support Dutton and Co are doing it tough in the current economic climate, while the others are there purely out of absolute greed and have no genuine vision for the betterment of Australia..

  2. It’s all so ridiculous. We should be having rooftop solar on every home with a communal battery on every street. But who could gouge us then?
Apparently it’s only ok for the miners to have self contained renewable free power for smelting etc, but average joe can suck eggs. I am so damned tired of mining looting the country and making us pay for it.

  3. Well from my reading and research so far, Peter Dutton’s nuclear energy policy is critiqued as an outdated and unfeasible plan that seems to directly serve the interests of the coal and gas industries while ignoring the benefits and advancements of renewable energy.

Furthermore, there has actually been NO REAL scientific and public DISCUSSION about this very important matter, which is in fact a subset of the climate change issue. So far, we’ve only just had sound bites from political and MSM stakeholders.

For those truly interested, please superimpose the radioactive Caesium 137 plume trace from Chernobyl and / or Fukushima over anyone of the 7 sites the LNP have announced. Scary huh?

Chernobyl / Fukushima will be uninhabitable for 100s of years and also 1000s of years depending on the application.
Millions of tonnes of radioactive water being stored is also being currently released into the Pacific Ocean, over the next 30 years.

    Please Remember:
Peter Dutton VOTED CONSISTENTENTLY AGAINST …

    1. The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA)
    2. The Paris Climate Agreement
    3. The Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme
    4. Increasing investment in renewable energy
    5. A carbon price
    6. Carbon farming
    7. The Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme

There’s much more too … how do we stack up so far?

The Liberal-National Party, under Dutton’s leadership, is rightly being depicted as out of touch with the people of Australia and totally ineffective as a credible political force.

    In My Honest Opinion:
The LNP is LAZY DISRESPECTFUL INHUMANE INCOMPETENT DELUSIONAL REPULSIVE UNTRUSTWORTHY MYSOGYNISTIC
This all lies firmly within the LNP DNA
I strongly believe the LNP suffer from compulsive mythomania and pseudologia fantastica.

  4. I felt, from the beginning, the policy was a ploy to sow doubt about long term government energy policy and create a disincentive for capital to invest in renewable energy. Friday morning headlines suggest that objective is being achieved. The motives? To extend the lives of the fossil fuel assets, mines, generation plants and infrastructure, and hence the profits of the owners. This objective seems consistent with the LNP intention in government to abandon the 2030 targets.

The climate shows clear evidence of disruption, and the increasing thermal load of the atmosphere, as evidenced by an increased atmospheric temperature, would seem to be the driver of the disruption. You don’t have to believe the rise is driven by human agency to recognise the change or plan for the impact. Too many conflate the first with the need to plan for any impact of rising atmospheric temperature., and so avoid any planning. It is the precautionary principle in action.

The LNP outlook reminds me of the apocryphal tale of King Canute and his positioning of the throne by the shore and commanding and the tide not to wet his feet and robes. His actions have been, for some, evidence of arrogance and an over weening belief in a leader’s power and authority. However, the story illustrates the piety and humility of King Canute and his recognition of the limits of his authority.

By this policy subterfuge, the LNP displays no equivalent of real-politic piety and humility, but a culpable disregard for the future of humanity.

  5. Surely voters can read this as a ploy to keep Gina’s operation viable. The Tasmanian situation proves that renewables can and are to be the answer … and this under a LNP government. At least some parts of the LNP are motivated to do the best for the country and Australians rather than kow-tow to vested coal fired interests.
Dutton’s past in his brown paper bags scenarios makes it obvious that he and the policies he espouses are not for us.

  6. When it comes to propping up gas, both LibNats and Labor are two cheeks of the same bum.

  7. Frankly Gina could do with a food shortage. It would also give her more time to ponder the sick children and birds she is suddenly so concerned with.

  8. All very worthwhile sentiments, and, thank-you KCA for a great article.
We are fed so much BS by MSM the facts behind the story, will never get a run. The Billionaire owners are hungry for the miner’s cash, journalists will never be able to write the whole story. The discussion will be similar to the referendum, acrimonious half-truths and personal, again the losers will be the country.

  9. A good read, together with some astute and insightful commentary. A combination of both my cynicism and naivety, brings me no closer to the machinations of the political processes in this Country. Are there so many manipulative people in our midst ?

  10. Renewable energy is inherently unreliable and cannot guarantee that electricity is available 99.999% of the time. Solar generates electricity around 30% of the time and wind around 30 to 35% of the time. When there is no sun and no wind (which affects much of SE Australia at the same time, and surprisingly often), there won’t be electricity without some other source. It is misleading to mention Tasmania, because it is unique in having a small population relative to area, a mountainous terrain with abundant rain feeding rivers that make hydro-electricity the most economic solution. That is not the case for mainland Australia. As for the ACT, less than 5% of ACT’s electricity is generated within the ACT, so the social cost of large scale wind and solar farms in borne by communities outside the ACT. Labor’s renewable transition is doomed to be a failure – there is no overarching plan: it is piece meal and all about contrived emission targets rather than reliability. The cost of not having a reliable electricity supply with renewables will be massive and make nuclear power look cheap. All this in the name of making no difference to climate because India and China continue to burn coal under the useless UN agreements. China builds something like two new coal fired power stations every week.

    • I hate to tell you champ but experts say that even if nuclear was viable it would be 15 to 20 years before it could happen. And on what scale?

And why did the Coalition take no action on nuclear for the 10 years they were in power from 2013 until 2022?

And do you claim Tasmania is the only place that has “a mountainous terrain with abundant rain feeding rivers that make hydro-electricity the most economic solution.”?

Have you ever heard of the Snowy Mountains Scheme”
“Described as one of the civil engineering wonders of the modern world, the Snowy Scheme consists of eight power stations, 16 major dams, 80 kilometres of aqueducts and 145 kilometres of interconnected tunnels.”
      https://www.snowyhydro.com.au/generation/the-snowy-scheme/

  11. This is the same con job as the NBN scam backed by corporate interests and conservative party wreckers. Damn the economy! Take office by any means! The Libs are following the “throw a dead cat on the table” strategy, an outlandish claim having no economic merit repeated forcefully to hijack public discourse and the media cycle. The second aim is to sell the lie that household economic difficulties are due to a mismanaging Labor government (they’re not). If just enough vulnerable, uncertain voters feel anxious about these non-issues then Dutton and his criminal cronies — back by a raging Murdoch media — may swing the next election their way. Dutton is stealing the energy debate narrative by in-your-face BS. Labor missed its opportunity to sink Dutton and the Libs with its denial of public hearings in the NACC. They should have gone after them. They also wrongly aligned themselves with the Libs against the Greens. Dumb. Now they are standing alone. The bigger the lie the more it will be believed.

  12. I think Kangaroo Court has put forward a credible reason for Dutton going nuclear. The fossil fuel industry has been able to manipulate the media and policy in Australia since atmospheric carbon became an issue.

It reminds me of the Nationals and vapes. Tasmania’s hydro is regularly hit by low rainfall and low dam levels. The electricity generator there (Hydro Tasmania) is state-owned and so ideologically controlled. For example, a downturn in woodchip sales to China would mean higher power bills.
