Former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and his wife Therese Rein, Greatest of all time (GOATs) of Labor Party grifting, made their estimated $400 million fortune off government contracts after Wayne Goss was elected Queensland Premier in 1989 and Rudd was his chief of staff.
Rudd’s and Rein’s rort never passed the pub test and I investigated the scam in 2013 and found that Wayne Goss also profited from the scam a few years after he left office.
It is worth looking at again now for at least 3 reasons. Firstly, because when people raise Labor Party corruption Labor supporters argue at least it’s not as bad as Liberal / National Party corruption.
Secondly, Kevin Rudd and his wife Therese Rein are without a doubt looking for their next government grift while Kevin Rudd is Australia’s Ambassador to the US.
And thirdly, because it ties in with articles I will publish soon.
Kevin Rudd, Therese Rein and their company Ingeus – How they made their $400 million
In 2013, before the federal election, I investigated Kevin Rudd and his wife Therese Rein’s rapid wealth accumulation via their company Ingeus.
I published an article on the 4th of August 2013 titled “Kevin Rudd, Therese Rein and their company Ingeus Ltd. The Obeids of the federal government” which to my knowledge is the most detailed investigation into Rudd’s and Rein’s wealth creation which was done via government contracts and started just after the 1989 Queensland state election.
I’ll bullet point key findings of that article below:
1. It says on Wikipedia: “Rudd joined the Department of Foreign Affairs in 1981, serving there until 1988. He and his wife spent most of the 1980s overseas at various Australian embassies, including in Stockholm and in Beijing.”
“Returning to Australia in 1988, he was appointed Chief of Staff to the Opposition Leader in Queensland, Wayne Goss. He remained in that role when Goss was elected Premier in 1989, a position he held until 1992 when Goss appointed him Director-General of the Office of Cabinet.” (Click here to read more)
2. What does Ingeus do?
Ingeus originated as a rehabilitation company based in Australia in 1989, named Work Directions. It then grew to become an international provider of employment services. In 2002 the company was rebranded as Ingeus.

1989 – 21st June – Lake Metcalfe Pty Ltd registered. I assume by Therese Rein – ACN: 010948731 – 4 directors – Therese Rein, Frances Edwards, Julie Graham and Rodney Graham. Registered office is 145 Flockton St Everton Park which is the home address of Julie and Rodney Graham
1989 – 31st July – Registers business name Work Directions Australia – BN3745685
1989 – August – Government report published titled “The Workers’ Compensation Board of Queensland report on future rehabilitation services throughout Queensland”. I cannot get a copy of the report but one assumes that it recommends the outsourcing of rehabilitation services . I make this assumption given the 1990 Act that follows.
4. 1989 – 2nd December – The Labor Party win government in Queensland in a landslide with Wayne Goss as Premier and Kevin Rudd as his Chief of Staff. It was obvious to all that they would win government as the Fitzgerald Enquiry corruption report was submitted on 3 July 1989. Kevin Rudd knew he would have power after the election to help his wife’s business.
5. 1990 – The Queensland government legislate the Workers Compensation Act 1990 which has provisions for the outsourcing of the rehabilitation of injured workers to companies such as Therese Rein’s.
6. Bingo. Therese Rein is up and running with her company and Kevin Rudd is in a position to influence who gets the business/contracts. Would Kevin Rudd and Therese Rein do something like that?
7. Is this the Smoking Gun?

How did she know they would be looking to outsource the rehabilitation of injured employees when she registered her company in June 1989?
Kevin Rudd would have known as “The Workers’ Compensation Board of Queensland report on future rehabilitation services throughout Queensland” was published less than two months later in August 1989 and he quite possibly had a draft copy at the time Therese Rein registered the company.
At the very least Mr Rudd would have known what was coming in the report as he was Chief of Staff to Wayne Goss and it was his job to know. Are we to believe he never discussed it with his wife when she says she decided to set up the business? And what about the Workers Compensation Act 1990, did he discuss that with his wife? 8. Former Queensland Premier and Kevin Rudd’s former boss Wayne Goss was a director of Ingeus from 2003 until 2007. Was it payback for helping the company get started? How I calculated the estimated $400 million wealth
“In 2007, Ingeus sold its Australian operations as Rein’s husband stood poised to win government. As she explained to The Courier-Mail: “It would not be sensible for my company to receive even one dollar of a federal government budget if Kevin was elected prime minister.”
“It was by no means a blow to her fortune. In 2012, Rein debuted on the BRW Rich 200 (at number 199) with an estimated fortune of $210 million. Her business, of which she is no longer the sole owner but is the CEO, is far larger — BRW estimated its 2012 revenues at $254 million. Rein fell off the Rich List in 2013, but BRW estimates her personal wealth to have stayed the same at $210 million.” (Click here to read more)
In 2014 Therese Rein sold the rest of Ingeus for “around $160 million in total, with the lion’s share going to Rein.” (Click here to read more)
The $210 million in 2012 above was only for Therese Rein and did not include Kevin Rudd’s wealth and it was 13 years ago and I know from media reports they invested $millions in property which has risen rapidly in that time.
If I am wrong about the $400 million figure, even at the $210 million estimated in 2012 that is a massive amount to make from government contracts.
Kevin Rudd pays Labor Party propagandist Jordan Shanks aka Friendlyjordies for PR
Jordan Shanks is a paid Labor Party propagandist and publishes a YouTube Channel using the name Friendlyjordies.
He has published about 5 interviews with Kevin Rudd over the last 5 years or so and promotes Rudd in other videos and is paid by Rudd for the promotion.
The key part in the video below is where Shanks mentions Wayne Goss and Kevin Rudd and says Rudd “remembers the dark days of Queensland well”.
Firstly, paid Labor Party propagandist Jordan Shanks talks up Goss and Rudd as heroes and given Shanks says in relation to Rudd “he remembers the dark days of Queensland well” means that Shanks is quoting Rudd so Shanks must have spoken to Rudd before he published the video although Shanks has denied it.

The above video is from a longer Shanks video which had nothing to do with Kevin Rudd and Wayne Goss but Shanks managed to slip their names in. It’s basically subliminal advertising to promote Rudd and Goss.

Kevin Rudd and Therese Rein would be spending most of their time in the US planning their next big grift when Rudd leaves his position as Ambassador just like previous Ambassador Joe Hockey who has his snout into the $368 billion AUKUS fraud.
Rudd and Rein set the standard, and came up with the game plan, for other grifters to follow such as Scott Morrison, Peter Dutton and Angus Taylor etc.

Kevin Rudd is also the author of one of the biggest sucker punches in Australian history when he set up the campaign for a “Murdoch Royal Commission” only to jump ship and grovel to the Murdoch’s after he became Australia’s Ambassador to the US.
And just to confirm he sold his soul to the devil, Kevin Rudd hosted a book signing in May 2024 at Australia’s US embassy for Scott Morrison. The Labor / Liberal UniParty in full flight.
No one else has ever done a deep dive into Kevin Rudd’s grifting with his wife Therese Rein, but it should have been reported by all media.

Good reporting, but nothing new when the subject of suspicious behaviour involving government funding going to politicians and former politicians from both Labor and LNP, elected to serve their own interests, meanwhile these same mentioned parasites feeding from the public purse, happily give away Aus resources for free, then to add to this gifting to big business, give money discuised at subsidies back to the non tax paying multinationals, be difficult to name any former PM who served Aus with honour, yet we gift them enormous life time pensions for their years of selling Australia down the drain.. current PM tops the icing on the cake, assisted with $70m to build a road to his new abode, actively takes orders from multinationals and overseas interests and to add delight to Australian taxpayers, is as boring as a toad croaking and much in common with Australia’s most embarrassing PM, the Hon Tony Abbott, master of onion chewing.
How do we stop Politicians from rorting the public purse on top of very generous salaries and allowances. It’s immoral.

I can clearly remember Rudd and wife immediately pushing their barrow when he fell into the PM job, there were people asking about “vested interests”.

Scott Morrison began when he was shown the door from the Oz Tourism office, then he went to New Zealand Tourism office where the same pattern happened again, Back to Australia and his “work experiences” were readily applied. With doses of friendships with very questionable people etc.,
Over 40 years ago the rot had started and even if one wrote and asked questions, or asked them in personi they were ignored-by the few paid staff in Liberal HO etc, This was a state wide problem and across all levels of society.
Australians to a person have to become involved in their communities and as a majority ask deep probing questions

In normal times (did they ever exist?), Blind Freddie (sorry Fred) would think our guardian NACC would be on to the rorts. But, two years and 160 million dollars in the red and all they have nabbed were a couple of minnows. As far as I can see, the Register of Members’ Interests – 48th Parliament is not yet available – that is, for this current term.
I am surprised that mainstream media (MSM) do not use this information to pursue all sorts of issues and matters.
As an example, Jaycee – if you look up Andrew Hastie, Shadow Minister for Home Affairs, in the Register of Interests, you will see under –
Section 13. – Membership of any organisation where a conflict of interest with a member’s public duties could foreseeably arise or be seen to arise –
He lists that he is the PATRON of Friends of Israel. I would have thought that this constitutes a Conflict of Interest in terms of his new parliamentary role.
He should at least be questioned as to the core principles of this organisation, so we, the citizens of Australia, know exactly how he would form and write any policy documents or make decisions in our name.
How is this allowed to happen without proper scrutiny or accountability?
